Today we’d like to introduce you to Alison Walsh.
Alison, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Housewives in the City was launched in the Washington, D.C. area in 2011, Since then, the organization has developed collaborative communities of women in more than 50 cities across the United States. With opportunities to support each other both online and at our free monthly Girls Night Out events, local women will find an amazing group of ladies to connect with that they’ll soon call friends. We help each other network and definitely have fun doing it.
Housewives in the City-Phoenix has been hosting events throughout the Valley since 2017, and building an online community through both social media and the blog. Each month, a free Girls Night Out event is hosted at a fun venue where women can network, socialize, shop and enjoy food and drink.
At every event, the group introduces and supports a local non-profit. The Phoenix Housewives group has supported amazing organizations like Chrysalis, Winged Hope, Dress for Success Phoenix and Maggie’s Place. We have been able to donate needed items to each of these charities, and give the groups the opportunity to get the word out about their mission.
We hand out fun swag bags to the first 50 women at each event, and host raffle prize drawings and giveaways. We often offer fun services like hair blowouts, makeup applications, chair massages and more!
Has it been a smooth road?
Bringing women together in the community is sometimes difficult because between busy schedules, parenting, running a business, and just doing life, everyone’s calendars can get crazy. Every woman should put self-care at the top of their “to do” list, and these events are the perfect night out where you can enjoy the company of other women and take a few hours to relax, enjoy good conversation and support a good cause by donating to a local charity.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Housewives in the City-Phoenix – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Housewives in the City is a local resource for women. I have lived in the Phoenix area all my life, and I love connecting other women to the people, businesses and venues that will help them succeed. We share information about a wide variety of things from businesses and fun events to resources for moms and the best restaurants in the area.
Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
I love that Phoenix is so diverse, and other than those few weeks in the summer when the heat is crazy, we have some of the best weather in the country. We have so much to offer, from sightseeing, hiking, camping and skiing to Spring Training baseball, top restaurants, great nightlife and amazing golf courses.
The thing I like the least is how spread out the Valley can really feel. From the far west side like Surprise and Avondale to the far east side near Queen Creek, San Tan and beyond Maricopa County, it can take you hours to travel across the Valley of the Sun. But we do have a lot to offer!
