Meet Honey Gould and Sarah Sidi of Honeysblooms in Phoenix

Today we’d like to introduce you to Honey Gould and Sarah Sidi.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Honey and Sarah. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My daughter Angel had shown me a picture of a floral 21 that she really wanted for her birthday celebrations. When I came to rent it, I found that it was an Australian based company further research led me to the UK and LA. All options were not only impractical but also unaffordable. Determined to find a solution I spoke to my friend Sarah and asked if she would help me make one! Weeks of searching and many trials we eventually found someone, to manufacture the numbers. With the numbers, we now had to source flowers. The two of us worked tirelessly to create the floral numbers. Once they were made and looking fabulous we realized they wouldn’t stand on there own! Back to the drawing board, we even got professional advice to help us find a solution. We settled for large cardboard boxes. We cut them and designed a foldable flap similar to a hinge that would hold the weight and keep them standing alone.

Angel was delighted with her 21. We surprised her with them whilst she was having brunch at a local hotel, The Scott. We could see that people were taking photos of the display and Sarah actually approached a couple of girls and asked them what they thought. Their response was really what made our idea change from party favor for Angel to Honeysblooms LLC. They were so impressed they ordered one for their friend’s upcoming 25th birthday brunch. Now having an official order in the books we realized that we had to create social media pages, register our name, create an email address the list goes on. The 25th again was a huge success and the orders started to come in. We were frustrated with our stand and decided we needed to modify it so it not only looked more sophisticated but also was sturdier. So again it was back to the drawing board. After many trips to local hardware stores and question after question to all sorts of experts, many hours of being covered in paint, glue and spray foam we developed the products and are so proud to say that they exceed ours and our customer’s expectations. We are getting orders and amazed how much we have achieved in such a short time.

Has it been a smooth road?
As mentioned the biggest struggles were deciding what to make the numbers from, sourcing a manufacturer and then sourcing flowers and of course making the numbers stand up. Our product has developed so much since our first prototype.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
Honeysblooms is a business “By women For women”. We have created beautiful unique floral installations from a backyard in Scottsdale and bring our European design and flair to all of our arrangements. We do this solely on our own, attaching every flower by hand. We are giving it every hour we can at the moment to make it a success.

Although from the same town in the UK, Manchester, we met in Scottsdale and are firm friends, actually more like sisters. We are so different from each other in many ways but have such similarities in others. We are both mothers and have come back to the workplace with vigor and gusto.

We are also now making tables from letters and other flower arrangements like a flowered mannequin for the BOF (business of fashion) and flower walls.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
We both moved here from the UK. The weather and scenery are so different from rainy gray Manchester and we love the fact that we can spend most of our days outside. The mountains are so comforting. They feel like they are protecting us from the world. Phoenix is an extremely friendly city with so much to do and we try and take advantage of all it has to offer. We create our installations in the backyard.

Where else in the world could you do that year-round?
If we could change one thing it would be to implement greater use of solar power considering we have sunshine nearly all year round.
