Meet Hewan Tesfaye

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hewan Tesfaye.

Hewan, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I’m 23 years old, and a graduate student from Grand Canyon University with a B.S. in psychology and a minor in Pre-Law. I was born and raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. All my life I’ve been curious and intrigued by how the human brain operates due to the people I’ve always interacted with and questioned most of the time.

I’ve always noticed most individuals lacked common sense meaning they found it is challenging to do the simplest things such as standing up for themselves and/or loving themselves and understanding the importance of self-love. I figured it had to be associated with how one’s brain is wired (i.e., how he/she was raised). That’s when I got inspired to dive deeper, and I begin asking “why” so I decided to take my understanding to the next level and focused on studying psychology for further understanding.

While I was studying Psychology in undergrad, I decided to begin blogging to be able to help individuals expand their understanding of self-love and why things happen the way they do. Although I do not have all the answers, my goal was to use my personal experience and what I’ve learned to help those who are in confusion of why certain things happen the way they do. My goal included being as raw as possible because I believe lies lead to more confusion and aggression- especially with oneself.

Moreover, in the process of my passion for psychology and bettering/helping individuals, I noticed I also have ardent for fashion. I’d wear clothes based upon my mood because it helped me express and understood myself better (emotionally& mentally); that’s when I realized fashion was a coping mechanism for me. Not the kind where people wore branded stuff and called it “fashion” but the type that required me to dig deeper to have a better understanding on what I liked and what exactly I was passionate about when it came to fashion.

I learned I was drawn to “basic” clothing (I.e., plain shirts, pants, etc..), and making them unique and stand out- meaning my focus was to stay concentrated on details (i.e., accessories, makeup, and hair), which were the necessities needed to make something standout. I also noticed I’m very interested in the 90’s look type of style because it required creativity, and being creative was essential to me, so was being comfortable in the clothing I wear.

So, today I’m in the process of learning how to sew to start my a clothing line to wear women can find something they feel comfortable and beautiful in to be able to express themselves the way they want to. In addition, my love for fashion also involved styling and dressing people in a way it expressed a message through the type of clothing and how it is styled.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Being a blogger has been a bit challenging because nowadays people in this generation do not enjoy reading as much as they do, which makes it difficult for me to get my work out. However, because I’m a problem solver, I have found ways to get my message across by making YouTube/Instagram videos.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with your business – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
As I have stated above, I’m a blogger and an aspired stylist working on my portfolio to be noticed by the fashion industry. My goal is to help individuals learn more about mental hygiene and help people find ways to express themselves (i.e., finding a coping mechanism) through fashion or any other style I’m able to make a difference.

I use social media to inspire people and to spread my work to be able to give men and women advice on how to retain the brain to be able to become better individuals so that we could have a better understanding of ourselves, and teach the younger youth on mental hygiene.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I plan to continue to work on my blogs for those that benefit from reading, but I also plan to publish a book on all the things I know to be able to help individuals understand themselves and what kind of attitude is needed to succeed within one’s piece of mind.

Also, I plan to work with all sorts of people through my styling experience, while publishing motivational and inspirational videos for those that rather watch/ listen.
