Meet Heidi Capozzi of Ethos Counseling

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heidi Capozzi.

Hi Heidi, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My husband and I have been Pastors now for over 20 years as we founded New Season Christian Fellowship in 2005.
I had started my journey of correspondence schooling with Chesapeake Bible College prior to that, as I was simultaneously homeschooling our three children.
Due to so many responsibilities in life, I had to take several breaks in my studies. Therefore, it took over a decade of schooling before finalizing my doctorate program through Colorado Theological Seminary.
As a Certified Academic Instructor through NCCA (National Christian Counselors Association), I also find great enjoyment in training other Christian counselors.
I do have to admit that one of my favorites is with premarital counseling!
I actually wrote a premarital counseling workbook that couples can navigate through on their own, or work together with a counselor, Pastor, or mentor.
The book is “GCS”, with the play on words of utilizing a GPS in order to get to our desired destination. GCS is our navigation system to our “happily ever after “.
I believe that a healthy marriage is centered around God, Communication, and Spice!
We have successfully worked with hundreds of couples with this book. Many churches utilize it for their premarital counseling and it is sold in Christian Bookstore’s, as well as on Amazon.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Life rarely provides smooth roads! The obstacles are for our growth, learning how to regulate, strategize and overcome.
The process of achieving goals for my life always comes down to knowing what I believe God has called me to do. If it was not for the constant encouragement of my wonderful husband and relying on the instruction and strength of my God, I would probably have given up during the multiple opportunities of temptation to do so! But God!

We’ve been impressed with Ethos Counseling, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Ethos Counseling is a Christian counseling business. I am not state licensed, but rather licensed through NCCA (National Christian Counselors Association) as a Licensed Clinical Christian Counselor.
We specialize in marriage counseling, but we also love working with people individually as well.
Ethos is biblically based, but also is specialized in Temperament Therapy.
This form of counseling is so beneficial in discovering our God-given temperament needs and how to effectively create a more conducive environment to meet those needs. Ultimately, this then allows for stress reduction and greater peace in our lives.

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I can recall countless amounts of wonderful memories from making homemade spaghetti noodles with my dad , to building snow forts in the winter with neighborhood friends on snow days and shopping with my mom frequently at the local mall. But without a doubt, my favorite childhood memory was when I was 13 years old, sitting on the back porch of a family friends house as they shared the genuine meaning of Jesus love for me and I decided to give my life to Him that day! My life has been forever changed for the good since that single decision to follow Christ!
