Today we’d like to introduce you to Heidi Bolton.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I went to hair school because I was a previous waitress. I didn’t want to wait tables anymore but I still loved the customer service aspect. I sort of coasted for many years, and then because of Instagram, I had a whole new Love and appreciation for doing hair! I amped up my education, hired a social media guru (@fiidnt on ig), and started treating social media as a second job. I have been working really hard to better myself for myself, and my clients. In the last year-and-a-half I have accomplished so much. I was lucky enough to become part of the Pulp Riot – Riot Squad, became one of Modern Salon’s 2017 top 100, and grew my business in a Direction that makes me happy everyday
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
There is nothing easy about becoming a hairstylist. Very few people are amazing right out of hair school. And almost no one has a clientele right away. If you want to be a good hairstylist, you have to work really, really hard. There’s a lot of trial and error and a lot of tears and worry. I have almost quit several times. There were times I really felt like I had no idea what I was doing. The most important part of being a hairstylist, is surrounding yourself with the support of force. People that you can ask questions and talk to. People that will be there for you and be honest with you. Education is the most important thing. Never stop learning.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Heidi Does Hair – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Heidi does hair is me. I am a hair artist, and I specialize in vivid colors. That is not the only thing I do, that’s just my favorite thing to do. I have always been extremely honest with the client. That means often saying no to save the Integrity of my clients’ hair. This is the age of instant gratification. Extreme change is very rarely instant or inexpensive. I keep my prices comparable but fair. I do in-person consultations with new clients before we book a first appointment. I make sure that each and every visit is personalized specifically for that client at that moment.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My goal for Heidi does hair is to continue growing in a positive direction and have a blast making people beautiful.
