Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Garcia.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Heather. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I started blogging back in November 2008, when I went to my first handmade market in Los Angeles. I really enjoyed listening to the makers talk about their products. I also loved the concept of shopping locally and realized how much better the products (usually) are. So, that inspired me to start my blog- to tell the stories of small businesses, instead of big corporations.
Since then, I’ve covered fashion events in LA, Phoenix, Houston, Austin and NYC. I’ve gone to NYFW twice now and I’m hoping to keep doing it. I’ve also met so many people in the industry and I still enjoy highlighting small brands. I am branching out and also highlighting non-chain restaurants and hotels whenever possible, as well.
I’m pretty well-known for my eclectic style. Vintage is my life and you can usually find me wearing something gaudy, over-the-top or something other ‘normal’ people might not wear. The older I get, I’m finding myself to be pretty introverted, yet I am totally fine with expressing myself or ‘speaking’ through my wardrobe.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s definitely had its ups and downs. Some of the people I’ve met have either turned out to be pretty shady or just downright mean. It’s also not easy to just sit down and write. I feel that I have to be in the right mindset to crank out an article. Sometimes life just gets in the way.
LAFashionsnob.com – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I am the sole content creator for my fashion and lifestyle blog – LAFashionsnob.com. I cover fashion events, do product reviews that are relevant to my beliefs, spotlight local brands and spotlight non-chain restaurants and hotels.
I’m proud to say that blogging has opened many doors and opportunities.
What sets me apart from the herd are probably my unique wardrobe choices and that I don’t normally highlight large corporate brands.
