Meet Heather Abbasi

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Abbasi.

Heather, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I started as an influencer in the Phoenix area when I first moved to Arizona from Los Angeles over a year ago. I was studying to become a singer/songwriter and was looking to move away from city life after some health problems made school and work difficult for an unknown and extensive period of time. Determined not to let the disability define me, I looked to Instagram for my future success as a plus-size, body-positive model and social media influencer. After a year of studying others achieve some success and using social media to get healthy and stay accountable, I let the real me shine through as an outgoing plus-size woman with a lot to show the world. I am blessed to be a model and influencer for a company called JuicyBodyGoddess based out of Charlotte N.C. This was the beginning of my career online and paved the way to other business relationships I have now with LocalFluence, ZueBotanicals, Teami and Popfitclothing with many more exciting opportunities in the works. Including bookings as a singer for weddings and other events.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It was anything but smooth getting to this point but the ride was definitely worth it! There were quite a few struggles including overcoming P.T.S.D. related anxiety and chronic fatigue, becoming a homemaker instead of a secondary financial provider in my marriage, moving to a new city where I knew no one while I learned to get around my new home as well as temporary homelessness. There was a constant learning process to find my voice and my niche on social media and lots of searching for offers and companies that aligned with my message and values that would pay me to model or ambassador products for them. Ultimately, my goal was to do the things that I loved while making an impact while having a career that would work with me and my limitations. I wanted it all and was determined to get it. So I started sharing my lifestyle, body-positive message and passion for fashion, sustainable and otherwise on Instagram and have made many friends and aligned with some of the greatest companies that share my values.

Please tell us about your work.
As a plus-size model and social media influencer, I specialize in modeling clothing and marketing products, brands, restaurants, and experiences that I enjoy and align with my values while inspiring others to own who they are and embrace their confidence and self-love. I am most known for my affiliation with JuicyBodyGoddess. They are a sassy fashion brand that exclusively caters to plus size women with a strong body-positive message. This brand means so much to me because they treat plus size women like any other woman but with a sense of pride because we are not the standard woman. We are powerful because of our diversity and unique desirability. We as women are all beautiful and I am honored to be affiliated with a clothing line that loves my curves and sends a positive message to women of all sizes. We are big, we are different but we are not any less beautiful or desireable and we are not less human and we are unapologetic about the way we express ourselves and the way we feel in our bodies.

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment I have experienced in my career so far has to be two different instances. First, when people I don’t know as well as some family members reach out to me and tell me that I have inspired them to live life with complete self-love and high self-worth as well as take better care of themselves mind body and soul. I love it when people tell me that I have inspired them to accept themselves and love who they are and how much they love and aspire to attain my level of confidence. They too desire to be unashamed and unapologetically themselves and flaunt it and I couldn’t be more excited for them to take that journey. The second proudest moment of my career so far is being featured and recognized as a unique individual and valuable asset to the brands I represent as well as being regarded as a hard-working highly valued individual by those brands.
