Meet Gina Monti of Heart Eyes Clothing Co. in Glendale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Gina Monti.

Gina, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
After becoming a new mom, I had to quit my full-time job that had been a huge part of my life for the last four years. I was really craving something that gave me a creative outlet, and the freedom to work from home with a new little one. After a lot of research and going back and forth, I decided to take the leap and create my small online shop I’d been dreaming about for years! It has helped me find such an amazing online community of moms and women who work hard and support others doing the same.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I have had this dream for many years but it seemed like something was always stopping me. Whether it be money or time! After having my baby and quitting my day job, I had a lot more time but I also struggled with PPD (postpartum depression) which has been hard to overcome but creating this space and working towards something that has been such a goal of mine for so long has helped tremendously. Putting something out that I have worked hard on, and that I love and seeing other people love it too has been so amazing.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Heart Eyes Clothing Co. story. Tell us more about the business.
Heart Eyes Clothing Co. is a place all my daydreams are coming to life. The doodles I would sketch on my conference call notes, and things I truly love are what I am designing and printing on shirts. This brand is for anyone and everyone, it’s about spreading kindness, inclusivity, and confidence. I want people to have fun when they are wearing my designs and when they see my ideas! My page is unique in the way you’ll see all types of people wearing my shirts rather than just the typical “Instagram model”. I have started out with three different designs my “Bee Kind”, “Pumpkin Spice” and my “Classic Horror Tee”. So far my most popular shirt has been the “Bee Kind” T-shirt it’s adorable and truly sums up the message I want to send with my shop! My personal favorite is my classic horror T I love scary movies so this one is for my fellow movie junkies! I design and print all my shirts, and it takes a lot of time and love. I want people to feel that when they order and wear them!

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I feel like I’ve gotten really lucky in the way that I am so new to this and just starting yet I have gotten a lot of support from other amazing shops online that I really look up too. I never expected to get so lucky with people I don’t know at all and have looked up to as business owners support me and helping me!
