Meet Hannah Peterson of A To Z Sleep Solutions in Entire Phoenix Metro Area

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Peterson.

Hannah, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born and Raised in New Zealand, where I was a part of delivering free healthcare to all as being a pediatric community nurse. As a single mom, I worked alongside families in their own home, checking on their little one’s development, educating families from birth to five years of age in nutrition, breastfeeding, and sleep. I also became a foster mom during this time as I was aware of the need and knew I could often a safe haven for children. That was an amazing experience for my son and myself. After relocating to Phoenix in 2012, after marrying the love of my life and having a child in the USA, I quickly saw the contrast in the healthcare system. Just seeing the lack of maternal support that mothers and children received made me want to be a part of the change in this system.

In 2015, I founded A to Z Sleep Solutions after I got certified as a sleep consultant by an internationally accredited sleep institution. I believe that ongoing education is so important, even though I have been working in this field for over a decade. We know that so many different factors influence sleep and not only being able to pull on this experience and knowledge as a nurse, a mother of five and that hands-on experience that this brings.

Fast forward four years and my vision of creating and helping more families have grown into a team of six sleep consultants throughout the USA. This has also given us more opportunity and access to families via our one on one support. It has also given us the opportunity in the development of workshops for all ages of our little one’s sleep, including our free newborn workshop in partnership with Buy Buy Baby.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
I have definitely had my fair share of struggles and they still continue to this day. Often at times, I wanted to wear a sign that said, “Hear my heart before you judge me!” As the stigma around sleep training has been tremendous and overwhelming at times. As people immediately assume that sleep training is equivalent to letting their child just lay in their bed and cry it out. I come from the perspective that there are so many different aspects that influence sleep. When resolving client’s sleep issues, I pull from my experience and our full spectrum of varying sleep techniques that range from gentle to a more traditional method and everything in between. At A to Z Sleep Solutions, we genuinely believe that there is NO ONE SIZE FITS ALL sleep method, as each child’s personality and each families parenting styles are so unique.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
When it comes to sleep training these are loads of help for under two’s but zero resources when it comes to sleep and the older years. So I am very excited to have just finished creating an amazing workshop for our over two’s and preschoolers to help give parents the tools for the older years. This is jam packed of information regarding sleep environment, when to transition to a toddler bed, nutrition for this age groups, when to drop naps and rest time and so much more. I

I am most proud of the legacy that we are beginning to build by being a reputable resource within our communities. A to Z Sleep Solution is also the #1 publicly rated infant/toddler sleep experts in the state and the only one with an A+ BBB Accreditation.

We always love to ask about the support network – have there been people, perhaps mentors or advisors, who have played a big role in your success?
Starting out as a very small unknown business in Phoenix I found it was important to connect with like-minded individuals. When it comes to sleep training, I didn’t expect this to be such a controversial topic so it has actually been way harder than I imagined to find support and cheerleaders.

I have had some amazing clients that have truly helped me market and build my business within this community plus worldwide.

One of these people I would have to give credit to would be Mary King-Goodman, owner of Musicology in Scottsdale/Chandler. She gave us a platform very early to help share my passion for sleep with all of her families and continues to do so today.

Buy Buy Baby has also been an amazing resource and partner that we are able to now offer a free newborn/expecting parent’s class throughout all three of their locations in the Phoenix Metro Area (Arrowhead, Scottsdale, and Gilbert).
