Meet Hannah Friel

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Friel.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I use to wear costumes to preschool on a daily basis and finger paint on the floor of my parents’ house when it was under construction so I knew from a very early age that I was creative. My grandmother was a watercolor artist and I remember playing with paints and color in her studio trying to learn her techniques. I was classically trained in fine art but wanted to find my niche. I came across my passion for resin art after experimenting with auto body paints and polyurethanes that my father had left over from working on cars. I have always been inspired by organic movement and natural phenomena so when I discovered resin as a medium I knew that I wanted to make it my focus.

Please tell us about your art.
I create abstract resin artwork that can’t be done by hand alone. I use a reactive process to create captivating effects while manipulating light and color with various layers of paint. My work aims to echo the organic movement of nature and natural phenomena. I am passionate about creating incredible depth in each work of art. I want people to see something new and be inspired each time they look at my artwork.

What do you think is the biggest challenge facing artists today?
I believe that the biggest challenge facing not only artists but all of us today is the limitations we set for ourselves. If a belief doesn’t serve you change it, push yourself, get comfortable being uncomfortable, and never give up. Don’t be afraid to fail because the only time something is ever a true failure is if you give up. It’s also important to practice more positivity and start erasing any negative programs that may be running through your mind. I believe the sky is the limit if we consciously work on practicing these ideas.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
You can view my artwork online or come to one of my shows! I will be exhibiting my artwork at the celebration of fine art 2019 in Scottsdale Arizona. You can also go to my website hannahfriel.com or my Instagram page @hannahfrielart to stay up to date with my latest work and exhibitions.
