Today we’d like to introduce you to Gretchen Schubert, Allison Irwin, Laura Beardsley and Lindsey Williams.
Gretchen, Allison, Laura and Lindsey, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far. Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Honestly…it’s been a really fun ride. It’s only been a year since we started Just Try It and we’re learning something new every day. The idea for JTI was born from an annual decade-long “favorite things” lunch with girlfriends where we all share and gift each other our favorite products. We think the best recommendations are recommendations from friends…and so it began. We took that idea and it became our mission to create a community that shares things that we collectively love.
While we’ve had a lot of fun and laughter, it has not come without challenges. We’re four busy moms who have ten children amongst us so we are constantly balancing JTI work with a million other kid-related, career and philanthropic responsibilities. Finding the time to plan, meet and effectively communicate can be challenging at times. We’ve also had to teach ourselves a lot of new things with respect to the ever-changing world of social medial and technology. Some days, we all wish we were twenty years younger! 😉
Just Try It – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
What sets us apart from the competition is that are are a team of FOUR. We are four women/friends/moms/daughters/wives trying the latest trends, workouts, recipes, beauty products and experiences and giving our honest opinions. On a daily basis, we are overwhelmed by choices. Everywhere we look, we see new products, fashion trends, recipes, travel destinations, kitchen gadgets, you name it. We all want to “just try it” but is it worth it? That’s where we come in. Think of us as four new friends and supporters of the products, businesses and things that bring joy to our lives.
We see ourselves as an online resource that can become your “guide to all things good.” There’s no road map for what we do and we’re proud of the fact that we stay true to what we believe and authentically share what we love — often with a good dose humor.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is knowing that we’re taking some of the uncertainty out of people’s daily decisions and becoming a trusted resource for people to sort through all of the influence. It feels great to be able to help people spend less time on research and guessing and more time on the important things in life. Success is having fun, doing our best every day, staying true to ourselves and always maintaining our community’s trust. All of the things that we value in our friendships are our markers for success with Just Try It.
