Today we’d like to introduce you to Graham Greytak.
Hi Graham, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m from a little town in Connecticut called Easton with 7,000 people. No traffic lights and one gas station/corner store. We used to cut down our own Christmas trees, feed the alpacas and pumpkin picking was always a wholesome adventure. I was recruited down to Florida Atlantic University to swim division 1. After two years of dedication, I transferred to the University of Virginia where I swam for one of the best college teams in the country. We won ACC Championships each of my two years there. After graduating, I moved to Miami where I got my Master’s Degree at Barry University. I received a job offer from the Phoenix Suns shortly after where I worked at for 4 years. My goal was to become an entrepreneur and partner back up with the Phoenix Suns for season tickets, sponsorships and hopefully even bigger dreams and goals I have in the future. All of this is slowly becoming a reality as the years go on.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not been smooth, after dreaming of swimming D1 and in the Olympics, I quickly learned I was not on the level and had to begin as a walk-on at Florida Atlantic University. Even at the Phoenix Suns, I dreamed of becoming a top executive but needed to start at the bottom making 120 cold calls each day for years. This happened to be when the NBA was on strike so those calls were not easy, After starting my business HireRising in 2018, COVID almost closed our doors, and high interest rates in 2022 almost closed our doors as well. We persevered and are bigger and more stable than ever currently.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
HireRising specializes in the people and workforce that powers the largest brands in our country to make the biggest technology transformations.
The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
Yes, that with any crisis situation, this too shall pass.
