Meet Geoff House of Geoff House Agency

Today we’d like to introduce you to Geoff House.

Hi Geoff, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in a small town in Nebraska, surrounded by a farming community where everyone knew each other and hard work was just part of life. From early on, I was always drawn to teaching and coaching—it just felt like a natural fit for me.

I spent a few years coaching basketball at the college and even professional level, which was an incredible experience. Eventually, I transitioned into teaching and coaching at a Christian high school, where I stayed for seven years. That season really shaped a lot of who I am—it gave me a front-row seat to seeing young people grow in both their faith and character.

In 2024, I took a big step and became an insurance agency owner with American Family Insurance. It was a shift from the classroom and the court, but in many ways, it’s still about building relationships and helping people through important decisions in their lives.

Even though I’m running the agency now, I’m still very involved at North Valley Christian Academy. All four of our kids go there—Payton’s a senior, Jake’s in 10th grade, Reese is in 2nd, and little Jordy’s in Pre-K. My wife, Steph, also works there as the school nurse, so the school is a big part of our daily lives. I also continue to lead the student government and missions program at the high school, which keeps me connected to the students and the heart of the school community.

It’s been a unique journey, but through every season—coaching, teaching, parenting, and now business ownership—I’ve tried to stay rooted in faith and focused on making a positive impact wherever I can.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Definitely not always a smooth road! Starting out in insurance—especially in the last couple of years—has had its fair share of challenges. Rates have gone up significantly across the board, which has made it a tough time to be selling insurance. Even agents who’ve been in the business for 20+ years have told me I picked one of the hardest times they can remember to get started.

That said, I’ve been really fortunate to have a strong foundation of relationships already in place through our church and the school community at North Valley. Those connections have made a huge difference—not just in helping me grow the business, but in reminding me why I’m doing this in the first place. It’s all about serving people, being honest, and building trust over time. The challenges are real, but so is the reward when you’re doing work that impacts your community.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
At the kids’ school, most people probably know me as the goofy guy who’s always organizing some kind of fun family event—I love building community and bringing people together, whether it’s for a school carnival, a game night, or just connecting over coffee. That same passion for community is really at the heart of what I do as an insurance agency owner with American Family.

In our agency, we focus on serving families with auto, home, life, and business insurance. What drew me to American Family in the first place was their mission—helping people protect what matters most. That really resonated with me. I’ve always believed that service should come first, and that’s exactly how we approach things at the agency.

With my background in education, I don’t just throw insurance jargon at people and hope they nod along—I love taking the time to sit down with families, walk them through their options, and help them really understand their coverage. When people feel informed, they feel empowered—and that’s a big deal when it comes to protecting the things that matter most in life.

Outside the office, I also lead student groups from North Valley on house-build trips to Rocky Point, Mexico, through an amazing organization called 1Mission. Those trips have been so impactful—not just for the families we build for, but for all of us who go. We always say, “We can build the walls of a house, but it’s the family that turns it into a home.” That same mindset carries over into the work I do every day—it’s not just about policies and paperwork; it’s about people, families, and creating something meaningful.

At the end of the day, what sets us apart isn’t just the products we offer—it’s the relationships we build and the way we serve. That’s what I’m most proud of, and what I hope people feel when they work with us.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned along the way is simple—service and people first. Relationships matter more than anything else. When you focus on genuinely caring for people and doing what’s right for them, everything else—success, growth, impact—naturally follows.
