Meet Geoff Cummings of On The Level Marketing & Consulting in Chandler

Today we’d like to introduce you to Geoff Cummings.

Geoff, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
On The Level Marketing & Consulting LLC has been a dream and passion of mine for over twenty years. The name of my business has significant meaning for several reasons, but mostly because that is how I believe a business should operate. I believe one should always be forthcoming and truthful – both in work and living life. I have the means and connections to assist a company with whatever marketing needs arise. Quite simply… I want to help people.

While I have a diverse background, in 2013, I decided it was time to pursue my dreams and in 2015 launched On The Level Marketing & Consulting LLC. With a great support system, I began assisting companies with their marketing needs. Those include but are not limited to: logo design, website design, rebranding, reputation marketing, and social media.

I have a degree in Marketing and Communications from Aquinas College, in Grand Rapids Michigan. With over 35 years in customer service, the experience has assisted me to provide marketing for a Fortune 500 company and a local non-profit company. Additionally, I have done marketing for a silent auction, a political debate, managed over 200 employees and have started a local fraternal organization. I take great pride in my work.

Personally, my pride and joy are my teenage daughter as is my little Maltipoo. Both keep me focused on what is important in life.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has not been a smooth road, but it still has been fun. I am serious about my business, but I still need to work Full-time to live and put my daughter through college. Therefore, I work on this business after my 8-5 weekly job. Because of that, it makes getting this business off the ground more difficult.

I firmly believe that the best way to ger business is by word of mouth. Additionally, it is hard to find a networking group that meets in the evenings, so all my business so far has been from referrals and word of mouth.

It has been the struggle; trying to get enough business so that I can eventually pull the plug on the day job, and do what I love and have dreamed about full time.

Tell us about your company. What do you do, what do you specialize in, what are you known for, etc. What are you most proud of as a company? What sets you apart from others?
At On The Level Marketing, we design logos. That is not the primary thing we do, but it seems to be the one thing we have done the most off. We also design WordPress or Wix websites. However, the difference with us is we just don’t pick a template and plug your information into it. We don’t want the website to look like everyone else’s who use that same template/theme. We take the time to sit down with the business owner and get to know them, find out what their business is about, what are their goals are for the business, and where they see their business in three, five and ten years. We then take that information and customize the WordPress/Wix Template to reflect the business’s image. We want to make it different and stand out from the crowd.

Those are the two primary things On The Level Marketing does, but we are also getting into reputation marketing. We have packages that will help businesses capture reviews automatically, making it easier for the business owner and the customer to ask and provide reviews for their business.

We also help with social media, as it is not only important to have a website that is compatible with mobile devices, but also present on at least one social media platform. Not all social media is right for every business, so we select the platform(s) that would work best for each particular business.

We will also rebrand a business. We believe at On The Level Marketing that businesses should refresh their look every five to ten years. Not to say they become unrecognizable, but just a refresh of their website and logo. Some times it is prudent to completely redesign the businesses image. We can do that too.

Finally, we can help with business cards, e-newsletters, brochures, etc. If it has to do with promoting your business we can help.

What are we most proud of and sets us apart from others?

We sit down with our customers, get to know them and work out a marketing strategy that will fit within their budget. Marketing should be affordable. I am not saying it is cheap, you get what you pay for, but it shouldn’t be unattainable either. We also do what we say we are going to do in the time that we said we are going to do it. Lastly, we like to partner with our customers and help promote their business when appropriate.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have started this business 25 years ago when I was just getting out of college. I love helping people and I love being challenged and creating something for someone and then seeing the look on their faces when I have created exactly what they had wanted. My day job has paid the bills and has supported me and my family, but my heart and soul is On The Level Marketing…I love what I do. I just regret not having the confidence to start this years ago.
