Hi Galya, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My photography journey began with a simple point-and-shoot camera and a curiosity for capturing life’s moments. As I snapped photos of family gatherings, sunsets, and city streets, I discovered a passion for freezing time and telling stories through images. I invested in my first DSLR camera and began experimenting with lighting, composition, and editing. With each click of the shutter, I honed my skills and developed my unique perspective. I started sharing my work on social media, receiving encouraging feedback and connecting with like-minded photographers. Today, I’m proud to have turned my hobby into a career, capturing special moments for clients and continuing to push the boundaries of my creativity. From humble beginnings to published works, my photography journey has been a thrilling adventure, and I’m excited to see where it takes me next.”

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Has it been a smooth road? Far from it! My photography journey has been a winding path filled with twists, turns, and obstacles. There were times when self-doubt crept in, and I questioned my talent and purpose. The constant comparison to other photographers on social media didn’t help, leaving me feeling inadequate and uncertain about my unique voice.

Technical struggles also plagued me, from understanding the intricacies of lighting and exposure to navigating the ever-changing landscape of editing software. I faced frustrating moments of equipment failure, missed shots, and disappointing results.

Moreover, turning my passion into a career brought its own set of challenges. I had to learn the business side of photography, from marketing and pricing to contracts and client relationships. There were moments of financial uncertainty, making it difficult to sustain myself while pursuing my artistic vision.

Despite these struggles, I persevered, fueled by my passion for photography and a willingness to learn from my mistakes. I sought guidance from mentors, workshops, and online resources, slowly building my skills and confidence. With each hurdle overcome, I grew stronger and more resilient, my photography evolving into a true reflection of my artistic voice.”

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Authenticity is the quality that I believe is most important to my success as a photographer. Staying true to my unique perspective, vision, and creative voice has allowed me to stand out in a crowded industry and attract clients who resonate with my style. Authenticity gives me the courage to take risks, experiment with new ideas, and push the boundaries of my craft. It also helps me build trust with my subjects, allowing them to feel comfortable and vulnerable in front of my lens. By remaining genuine and true to myself, I’m able to capture images that are not only visually striking but also emotionally resonant and honest. In a world where trends and styles come and go, authenticity is the one constant that has allowed me to stay true to my art and build a loyal following.
