Meet Fuego Bentley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fuego Bentley.

Fuego, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My name is Fuego Bentley, I am a creative! I rap, sing, write all my songs, direct and edit my own music videos. I’m originally from Missouri, born in Kansas City, raised in Columbia. After performing over three dozen times locally, including three shows opening up for Tech N9ne, putting together my own artist showcases (seven total) by the name of Good Vibes, and two independent studio albums (Good Vibes & Trill Waves), I decided to pack my car with 125$ and move to the southwest area. I have lived in Phoenix, Arizona for three years now.

I record at The Saltmine Studio Oasis, released my 3rd studio album “2 am in the valley” in 2017. 2018, I released an array of singles, remixes and music videos. Currently, I’m working on my 4th Studio album “Forever Trill” dated to release spring/summer of 2020. I am a singer trapped in a rapper’s body, my style is often compared to Drake or J Cole, I try my best to just be me with my music, I love melody, I love to tell true stories & I love to perform. My music is currently available on Spotify and Apple Music as well as YouTube.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nothing is ever smooth in life, as a young kid, I’ve had to deal with some adversity, I’ve seen someone get shot when I was 8, my uncle was murdered when I was 11, my older brother Nate was murdered when I was 18, & my cousin Shawn was murdered when I was 19! I’ve been to so many funerals growing up that it taught me to appreciate life for what it is and also to live life for what it could be! I promised myself and my brother I would make it with my music and that’s a promise I am going to keep! I’ve struggled a lot on the way, I’ve lost closed friends, I’ve been in love and heartbroken, I’ve almost been evicted, I’ve slept in my car, I’ve been without a job, I’ve been without a car, I’ve really put in the blood sweat and tears over the years to get to where I am now.

Please tell us more about your work.
Right now, I strive to be a 100% independent artist! I write songs for myself but also have done business for other small business, ie commercial work and theme songs. Next year, I’m branching out, I’ll be working on my own music but I will also be putting in time with my clothing line, “Trill Waves Clothing” as well as starting my own label; TAUD ( True Ambition Unique Dreams) Videography and photography as well.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have not messed up my credit. What I’ve learned over the years is you can do anything you put your mind to, you just need passion, ambition, hard work & Good Credit. It allows you to get business loans or a line of credit to be able to purchase the things you need to be independent. Instead of going broke spending my rent money, etc. if I had known this, starting out my credit score would be a lot better, I would have made better choices and ultimately been able to make bigger moves at this stage of my life.
