Meet Foxi B of Foxi iBrows in Avondale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Foxi B.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I’m just a girl from the Midwest who grew up with beauty being done in the kitchen like everyone else. Everyone would come over just to get their hair slapped up in an updo, braided, or nails glued on for the weekends. My mom was the “It Girl” fly hairstyles and clothes and a slip-on gold tooth and my dad was “The Man” with his gold chains and fancy cars that lined the streets of the city. My great grandmother, who called me “Foxy,” even had gold hair. Beauty surrounded me as a child.

In my high school years, I was always known for arching everyone’s brows. My mom, aunt, boyfriend’s mom, his sisters etc. I was known to hook you up with the thin eyebrow special. A trend that was very popping in that day. I was the go-to when the nail shops often messed you up.

In 2015 I was leaving an abusive marriage. The stress caused all my hair to fall out even from my brows. Because my eyebrows were missing, I would have to put on eyebrow makeup to run the smallest errands just to look “normal.” That took a toll on my self-esteem at times so I bought the “Best” brow makeup there was but the product would dry out fast.

Over time taking vitamins and applying coconut oil to my brows, my hair and brows grew back and in 2018, I decided to invest in Love and Hip Hop Sierra Gates Microblading class. I studied, practiced day and night, got my certification and finally started to do my own clients. On my journey to becoming an entrepreneur, I decided to start my YouTube channel and interview others who took those scary steps into working for themselves and leaving the corporate world. Talking to those entrepreneurs and reading books, I slowly got the courage to do the same. As clientele and word got around in Missouri, I moved to Texas and as clientele grew there, I moved to Phoenix. It hurt to leave my clientele and growing business but I still wanted to reach them from wherever I was at.

In February 2020, I decided to invest in my own brow product line that people could trust and fall in love with. And today, I have clientele across the country who love my eyebrow pomade.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, this entrepreneur’s life isn’t smooth. I have wanted to give up so many times. My clients keep me going and deep down. I know this is what I’m supposed to do. Keeping focused is the hardest part. Its so easy to get distracted.

Keeping my integrity and quality is important to me and finding the clientele who respects that sometimes seems scarce and can be disheartening. However, when I get those clients that appreciate quality and they love my products, it makes me happy that I did not find a “short cut.” Losing money before you make a dime is always a heartbreaking lol, trial and error with products, packaging, printers, shipping methods, everything! Not knowing what steps to take next and anxiety has played a huge part in my journey as well.

My definition of success in business would be keeping my integrity while making my clients happy. Keeping quality high and prices fair.
