Today we’d like to introduce you to Eva Jannotta.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Eva. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Once upon a time, I worked for a company I loved, but due to my own immaturity and poor leadership from my manager, I was not performing well. I didn’t want to find a different job so I decided… to start my own.

I wanted to help people, and I had a knack for planning, organizing information, and designing processes. I started a professional organizing business, but quickly realized I didn’t like doing it! I began to offer online marketing services because… well, someone I knew needed help, and I needed to make money.

I noticed that a lot of businesses leaders do not know how to use online marketing to generate leads or to build strategic relationships. Lead-generation is simple (note: not easy) but requires time and commitment. Relationships are key to building a thriving business, but it’s time-consuming and unclear how to make meaningful AND strategic connections online.

I’m a born connector. My mom jokes that “Eva could make friends with a door.” I put my connection skills to work on building effective relationships for my clients, and use my strategic skills on marketing planning and execution, My marketing company is now 3.5 years old, serving clients across the United States.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest struggle has been and still is MY OWN PSYCHE.

At first when I heard that mindset is a crucial part of the success I thought it was BS. I thought that if my clients loved me and paid me well then I wouldn’t have any problems (haha. Ha). But during my first year of business, my anxiety got so bad I had to see a therapist. It’s much better now, but self-doubt and limiting beliefs come up all the time.

I remind myself all the time that these experiences are normal: Limiting beliefs, self-doubt and fear are your brain’s way of trying to keep you safe from risk. Even though you know that with risk comes reward, your brain wants to protect you. The biggest challenge is accepting these uncomfortable feelings but not BELIEVING them. If you believe the voices that say “you can’t do it,” or “no one will like you” or “who do you think you are?”, that’s when you get derailed.

Instead, I try to notice these thoughts and feelings but not let them hijack my ambitions. A woman I used to work for said, “feel the fear and do it anyway.” Yes, that!

What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Every time I get really positive feedback from my clients I feel like I’m floating on cloud nine. Just the other day I was on the phone with a client, brainstorming topics for her blog post and email content, and she says, “I can’t tell you how valuable this is.”
