Meet Erica Snyder

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erica Snyder.

Erica, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I was in my early-mid-20s, hungover, overweight and really no direction. I had two doctors visits that would change my life forever, and I still remember clearly to this day

This first one I had gotten a tad overweight and my doctor encouraged me to “maybe lose 10lbs, and you’ll be back to where you should be health-wise” well fast forward one year, and I had GAINED another 22lbs! Continued partying, drinking, poor eating habits, poor sleep, procrastination, and fear had a stranglehold on me, and I didn’t know how to get out!

Let’s just say that next appointment a year later my doctor was NOT happy with me. She asked me “do you know why we draw your blood?” of course I didn’t, she lets me know because I’m prediabetic! With high blood pressure (it had gotten so high that day they didn’t want to release me home right away). I was only 26 years old with high blood pressure, facing diabetes and felt the worst I ever have in my life, but that’s when the change would come…

I was going to Hawaii for two weeks, and I knew when I got home something had to be different. I ordered the P90X program, and that changed the game! After this program, I discovered Turbo Jam (a kickboxing program) Insanity and so many other workouts that ignited my passion for fitness and helping others

I had gotten sober, quit smoking a made a total 180. This was a great but difficult process of course for me and others around me. When the drinking stopped, the phone stopped ringing, and that was the rudest awakening of all. People you thought were your friends maybe weren’t or me getting sober made them uncomfortable at the time.

With sobriety, discovering fitness, personal training and hearing stories from others and their struggles inspired the book, and through the book, I developed the 21 step program to help people form better habits, get out of their own way, stop the procrastinating, stop the fear and start living.

Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely has NOT been a smooth road! But I am thankful for it all, I really am.

The struggles I had and I know many of us struggles with these on a daily basis, the negative self-talk, procrastinating and being scared! Never taking a chance, not thinking I can do it and putting myself in a box with limiting thoughts

Starting and stopping, who was in my circle and how to change it, waiting for the “magic day” to make a change, wanting to fit in and do what everyone else did but knowing that wasn’t right for me

When writing the book and putting this program out there, feeling exposed was so scary! Who was gonna read it? Who was gonna care? This self-doubt made me procrastinate and put things off for way too long. Fighting that fight is the greatest battle of them all that we all face sometimes in our lives

We’d love to hear more about what you do.
I am definitely known for health and fitness. I been a group fitness instructor and trainer for almost ten years now. I love seeing people get stronger, healthier and gain more confidence. I’ve met so many amazing people and hearing their stories are so inspiring to me, helping them helps me as well.

I also am an author, and I wrote a book called How I Beat Self Sabotage and How You Can Too and developed a program R21: Fearless Reset. This is a 21-day program for my coaching clients where I take them through daily videos, a 21-minute workout, 10-minute meditation and includes a downloadable workbook to accompany the videos they watch daily

With the coaching services I offer mentoring programs, follow up action plan, the R21 program, the book, and 30 minutes follow up sessions. I can take local clients or internationally through Skype. Better habits, better thought patterns, who we surround ourselves with and taking back control is what I’m passionate about helping others with

What sets me apart is I am speaking from life experiences and sharing with others what helped me overcome, and now I want to help others to do the same. Along with personal development coaching, I also offer health and fitness coaching. I can help people from the inside out!

What’s your outlook for the industry in our city?
I really feel Scottsdale/Phoenix is a great city for a business like mine and anyone’s business. This city is exploding, and there are so many business owners, moms, young adults and people in between that could use the services I offer, and anyone looking to grow are definitely in the right area
