Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Williams.
Eric, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
Basic facts about me, I grew up in Baltimore, Maryland. I joined the military when I was 19 years old and was a helicopter mechanic while in the Navy. I decide to move to Arizona because I had family and friends from previous years that lived here. I started photography just because I wanted to take better photos for myself at the time before I discovered the talent I had for capturing pictures of others. I began my career taking pictures at schools, taking pictures of people for their yearbook. After a few months, I decide on to continue photography on my own. I started working with models, designers, athletes and public figures. This is when I discover my true niche for the industry. Currently been doing photography for two and 1/2 years. Graduate with my bachelor this semester. Favorite thing about photography is turning people’s ideas into reality. I creative director 90% of my photo shoots. I edit all my own photos.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It been a bumpy road to stay at least. I am completely self-taught so learning the skill took a lot of trial in error. Not having a mentor to show you how to get clientele or get better-made things more difficult. Not to mention the investment alone to get all the gear required. It takes a lot of work to build a name for yourself.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with Eric Williams Photography – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
I specialize in portrait photography. I can shoot anything from lifestyle to editorial to boudoir to fitness. I would say that am really proud of my portfolio, I put a lot of work into it. I would say my creativity combined with my technical application is what make my photos.
Any predictions for the industry over the next few years?
Continue to make big straps in my career. I plan to be a big name photographer, doing pictures from major companies and celebrities.
