Today we’d like to introduce you to Eric Sanchez.
Eric Sanchez, Dancer/Choreographer, born and raised in the Bronx, New York City, found his path for Dance at the age of eight. Having gone through high school filling up his schedule with several dance programs, he graduated as the initial valedictorian of the Bronx Preparatory Charter School. After graduating, Eric continued his dance studies at the Alvin Ailey School and several NYC dance companies, including Violeta Galagarza’s KR3TS, Torey Nelson’s Live Co, and The Iconic House of Ninja, to name a few. After two years of working with a Talent Agent and booking commercials, TV and FILM, Eric packed his bags and left NYC for Los Angeles. Upon arrival, found work in music videos, industrials, stage productions and choreographing for performing artists.
Eric has worked with Lady Gaga, Fergie, Ariana Grande, Lizzo, Mariah Carey, Meghan Trainor, Ciara, Mya and more. He has had the honor of working on Tours (Ariana Grande’s Dangerous Woman, Lizzo’s Cuz I Love You Too, Ciara’s The Jackie Tour) appearing on TV and Award Shows, (NBC’s The Wiz Live, SNL, Super Bowl Half Time, The Grammy’s, Kids Choice Awards). Eric was performing on Base Holograms The Whitney Houston World Tour; however, due to covid, the tour was postponed.
Has it been a smooth road?
There’s been challenges along the way. I’d have to say that having faith, the confidence and the tenacious work ethic is what kept me grounded. Work in the entertainment industry isn’t always consistent. Therefore I had several side jobs working as a bartender, server, casting directors/agents/managers assistant, etc. A huge challenge was getting stuck in any of these side jobs in order to pay bills. I remember feeling discouraged because I wasn’t booking for a period of time or it felt like I wasn’t moving forward. However, I put my energy into my craft by creating my own projects and surrounded myself with people I enjoyed. Opportunities came smoother when I didn’t dwell on them.
We’d love to hear more about your work.
Currently, I’ve partnered with Dolores Ninja and Phoenix Red to launch Remix Republic, an innovative new platform that remixes hit songs and connects content creators, choreographers, and influencers to the remixes. It’s a label with distribution through Universal and we were listed as the #1 innovative platform in online tech publications (https://welpmagazine.com/31-innovative-publishing-startups-to-learn-from/). We’ve been gaining a lot of momentum with this project, especially because it creates a new opportunity of revenue for content creators, dancers and music artist. We’ve partnered with Mu-Sync TV and right now where in our Series A for funding.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
I feel like everything is going digital and we will all soon be living everyday life in some sort of online space. Although I miss performing on stages in front of a massive audience and going to dance clubs with my friends. That part of the industry is slowly coming back. It may not be the same, but for now, I am excited to see how it unfolds.
