Today we’d like to introduce you to Emmaley Otis.
Emmaley, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Our family of three moved to Arizona nearly five years ago to pursue a career opportunity for my husband, Brian. I was enjoying my time as a stay at home mom with my (then 2-year-old) son, JP, and came across a blog post featuring a NEAT Method pantry. I was immediately interested in the company, and further research led me to Mika Perry, the original owner of NEAT Scottsdale. As luck would have it, she was expanding her team! I spent the next two years organizing alongside Mika, and really just learning everything I could – not only about how to beautifully organize a space, but how to build a strong team, provide value to the client and navigate the inevitable bumps in the road. Without a doubt, the example Mika set has been the leading factor in any success I have found in this business.
The opportunity to run the Scottsdale market presented itself near the end of 2016, and our amazing team of organizers has been working hard ever since! It is a job that rarely feels like a job, and is never boring. Each client’s space is unique, and we are still so excited for the challenge of each project that comes our way – whether it is a complete transformation or finishing touches on an already beautiful space.
Has it been a smooth road?
I imagine that anyone running a small business for the first time would agree that there are always bumps in the road! Learning to work for yourself is a big transition after years of being an employee. Prior to organizing, I taught 4th grade for nearly ten years, and while many of my skills transferred, there was a steep learning curve in other areas. Luckily, each challenge taught me a valuable lesson, so I wouldn’t change anything about the path I’ve traveled so far!
I am also very fortunate to have the best possible group of organizers on the NEAT Scottsdale team. It is such collaborative work and a true pleasure to work together with such wonderful ladies.
So, as you know, we’re impressed with NEAT Method Scottsdale – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
NEAT Scottsdale is a franchise of the NEAT Method company, which now exists in all major cities across the US. As luxury, residential organizers, we specialize in creating beautiful, functional systems in the areas of the home that tend to need an organizational touch. Our most common spaces are pantries, playrooms, and closets, but we truly organize anything and everything!
Our first step is to consider each client’s lifestyle and design aesthetic while planning a space. We create systems to account for busy school mornings, after-school sports schedules, frequent travel or love of entertaining. We always hope the end result is a space that compliments the design of a home and is intuitive to maintain on a daily basis. Our process is always the same – we pull everything out of each space, categorize and edit, plan and measure, then source and implement products to tie it all together.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I hope to expand and strengthen our team of organizers so that we can continue to provide a fresh approach to each new client. Organizing is the best of both worlds – practical and creative – so we get to solve a new puzzle each day and use beautiful storage solutions to do it!
Pricing:
- Our organizing rate is $75/hour (per organizer).
