Today we’d like to introduce you to Elle Ostapuk.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I have loved doing hair and makeup ever since I was a little girl. I begged my parents for one of the life-sized barbie makeover sets, and would always do my doll’s hair, and try to do their makeup.
I grew out of the barbie head and grew into doing my best friend’s hair and makeup for photoshoots in the backyard, and that turned into school dances, prom, and senior pictures. I never imagined being able to use my passion as a career, until Covid-19 made my college experience a nightmare.
I started promoting my skills via Instagram (@lunarbeautyaz) and joined Facebook groups, and found a team to work with. This pushed me to want to be my own boss, make my own schedule, and just do the things I love!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Honestly, I’ve had plenty of bumps in the road, and there have even been days where I doubted myself, and almost wanted to give up.
I let plenty of people tear me down, and tell me I couldn’t make a living off of what I love, but I finally grew out of letting other people’s opinions get to me.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a hair and makeup artist!
I specialize in Wedding hairstyling and makeup, and I also love working with local photographers to glam up their clients. I’m most proud of the client base that I’ve built, and my perseverance through many tough trials.
I think what sets me apart is that I’m a solo artist vs a team, and I try and build a relationship with every single client who reaches out to me.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was a super outgoing and creative kid.
I loved playing make-believe games and playing sports. I grew up with an older brother and always felt like I needed to be more of a so-called tomboy in order to fit in with him, so I definitely was into doing everything outside, I loved camping and fishing, and swimming.
I also loved to read, which I believe ignited my imagination even more.
