Meet Elizabeth P. of Arizona Hair Company in East Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth P.

Elizabeth, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
While growing up on the west coast, I was drawn to many different art forms my whole life- one medium introducing and influencing another. There was no way that what I chose to do, and where I focused my passion was not going to be something creative. Appearance and self-expression is an art form in itself. I always enjoyed encouraging and helping others to be their most true and authentic self, and how they present themselves is a big part of that. I tried a more traditional career route at one point- but it only confirmed that traditional 9-5 was not well suited for me! People who sit in my chair are the directors, and they’re letting me use my skills to collaborate with their ideas and to create their vision.

Has it been a smooth road?
There’s always going to be obstacles between you and your goals. The rougher the things you’ve been through; the tougher you’ll be when you come out the other side. I’ve been in situations and known people, both good and bad, that made me tough. I had to discern between the real and the toxic and act accordingly. You can’t build around people who want to break you down once you reach a certain level.

Trading in stability for passion is scary, and I know I definitely questioned making the right moves multiple times. I was working a job I hated during the day so I could pursue school and practice my craft at night and any spare time I had. It has taken time and patience, but the love and dedication I’ve put in is making its way back to me and I’m grateful.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am a licensed beauty professional, with a concentration on hair artistry. Whether it is creative color, fashion color, balayage, cutting or styling, I want my clients to feel confident, powerful and beautiful during our time together and always! Guys, I got you, too. I know a fresh cut can make you feel some type of way.

Professionally, I’m especially proud of being able to see consistent growth and improvement. Everyone’s style is so personal and is constantly evolving, and as a result, I grow with it. To be representing the beauty industry through my work is not something I take lightly. A lot of heart and energy goes into every creation, I want my guests to feel that.

While the connection between my guests and I begins and ends with what is on top of their head, it can get deeper than that. I’ve seen my clients through some of the best and worst times of their life. I’m humbled to be trusted with the stories of life, death, pain, and joy that I’m told. Sometimes, people want advice, but usually, they just need someone to hold space for them. My goal is to provide a space where anyone can feel comfortable and safe.

As an overall creative, I’d love to work and collaborate with other artists/creative individuals. In the Phoenix area, we have so many talented people. To link up and create with others would be amazing, regardless of medium. Whether it’s other beauty professionals, musicians, tattooers, fine artists, visual artists- if you have an idea, share it, manifest it. I’m always willing to expand my ability and push the limits of my creativity, professionally and personally.

How do you define success?
When my client sees themselves in the mirror and I can tell that they are feeling themselves, that’s a success! If every day I am to able to do something I love to do and make someone happy at the same time, I think that’s pretty successful.
