Meet DZE LIKE RZA

Today we’d like to introduce you to DZE LIKE RZA.

DZE LIKE RZA

Hi DZE, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I started writing parody raps in 5th Grade and it just kept on progressing from there. I dropped my first project in 2015 titled “All That” on Bandcamp. I never had my own personal recording equipment until I started going to CRAS, which at the time was my main reason for going.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I think the road has been as smooth as Ive made it throughout the years. At times I feel time was wasted on certain things, but whenever I lock in things always work out for the better. My main struggles came from looking too far ahead in the future. I feel like that made me disappointed if certain expectations weren’t met instead of just taking things as they came. I had to re fall in love with making music because it wasn’t fun for a while.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a songwriter, rapper, artist and audio engineer. I also do a lot of freelance A/V events throughout the state. Just started my LLC officially last November “BZE Records & Entertainment” mainly
assisting with live event setup, audio visual and audio engineering but we also can offer cover art designs, video edits and script writing/direction. We released our first project at the beginning of last year a 4 song EP , Sensei DZE. Also just released the debut Album last month 3/21 “Hanging Giants” out now on all platforms fully engineered and executive produced in house at BZE Records!

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
I think taking risk are necessary if you want to take it to that next level. I have taken a few risk, not as much as I should have but to be fair some of those risk did actually backfire on me. I’m probably still too careful when it comes to taking big risk…something I need to work on, but in my defense I have been scammed out of hundreds of dollars trying to navigate my way through the industry as an independent artist.
