Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Michael Basten.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Before EverSpan Life, Mike Basten, PT, DPT, MTC was on the front lines of patient care, serving Arizona as the founder and CEO of Foothills Sports Medicine.

Mike built and grew Foothills into a trusted, patient-first practice by focusing on something many traditional healthcare models overlook: long-term outcomes. He saw firsthand what happens when care wasn’t just about treating symptoms, but about restoring function, performance, and quality of life.

But as the practice grew, so did a realization. Physical therapy served a great purpose in helping people to recover. But recovery was only one small piece of the overall health puzzle.

As Mike helped his patients to get better, he also noticed that many were held back by issues no amount of rehab could fully solve: chronic inflammation, hormonal imbalances, poor metabolic health, sleep disruption, and fatigue. This set him on a mission to look deeper.

Standard labs are very limited. Patient data is very fragmented. And by the time issues show up clearly, people are already behind the curve.

So Mike did what all great entrepreneurs do, and set out to look deeper and solve the real problem. He set out to disrupt.

This led Mike to start an integrated functional medicine and advanced biomarker testing company, expanding beyond traditional care into comprehensive, data-driven health optimization. For the first time, he could see what was really happening in the bodies of his patients: how systems interacted, how patterns emerged over time, and how early signals predicted future outcomes.

We have worked very hard to overcome hurdles of every sort … tech, regulatory, operational, you name it. But, I’m pleased to say that we are now licensed to deliver service to over 40 states and believe we will be in all 50 by the end of the quarter! And the success stories we regularly hear from our members make it all the effort worthwhile.
