Meet Dr. James C. (Pastor J) Sutton II

Today, we’d like to introduce you to Dr. James C. (Pastor J) Sutton II . Dr. James C. (Pastor J) was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Teniecka ( TDrake) Drake.

Hi Dr. James C. (Pastor J), we’re so thrilled to have you sharing your story with us today. Maybe we can kick things off by having you introduce yourself to our readers? We’d love to have you go into your story and how you got to where you are today.
Well, I became an entrepreneur at around age 31. I had a daycare,a real estate company mortgage company a cleaning company. I thought Money Power and Sex was the way. Extra extra spending of money on cars and having lavish parties. When I reached my first million I still felt empty. I was laying in the bed after one of the parties and there was demon sitting on my bedpost. It was choking me and a voice said “I have you now”. As I was trying to get out the word Jesus another voice said not him. A hand came through the wall and took the demon out. I was perplexed and confused because my wife did not wake up after this traumatic experience. I knew that something was happening spiritually with God but, I did not know where to start.

This all was happening around 2008 when the real estate market crashed. Living in fear of losing my fortune I made some bad decisions based on greed.
I aligned myself with some people that were promosiing a way to avoid the economic downturn,it was illegal period.
God blessed me to go not to seminary but, to the penitentiary. This time in isolation God used the Holy Spirit to show me my sin in reference to the Holy Scriptures. The Bible became a mirror that I could not hide from. My teacher was a young Hispanic man Nicolas Perez who, taught me about God, salvation and sin.
In went James Sutton and 366 days out came Minister Sutton as each gate opened.
Then I immediately attached myself to an awesome ministry called Misfits for Jesus. They were feeding the homeless and preaching the Gospel down on the riverfront in St.Louis Missouri.
I attended Midwest College of Theology received a Masters Degree and a Doctorate Degree in Biblical Studies in 2011.
The church I attended closed and a small group of disciples decided to stay together and in 2015 Walk in Truth Christian Fellowship Church came into existence.
Walk in Truth Radio Network came as a result of Teniecka Drake’s guidance. We began to put our teachings and sermons on all social media platforms. Due to the Grace of God he has given me a zeal and a love of God’s word and his people. We have planted churches and taught on social media around the world. Our slogan is “We are not about the Income We are about the Solve saving Outcome.”

Let’s talk about your work and career – what else should we know?
I am a senior Pastor BiBle Teacher. What sets me a part from main stream. A biblical leader is a servant. I am suppose to feed them they are not suppose to feed me. Romans 2:4. I want to convey the power and the gospel is the power. Where I different is that there a consequences of decisions that I have made. Being a ex-con, rising above the consequences but, prison is where I met Jesus and a real teacher of God. He was willing to tell me the truth about Salvation,sin and it’s reality. The only difference is I am willing to admit that I was a sinner and I need a Savior. That is the start of following Christ. I do not believe in being culturally relavent with all of it’s superficial trappings. The Church should be salt and light not sugar. Biblical illiteracy is the cancer of the the church. Where the American Gospel of Greed and materialism is preached and exported around the world every week. What makes me unique is I am more focused on souls being saved than money int he offering plates and bodys in the seats on Sundays. I do not believe in gimmicks I have to trust God with his Gospel. I believe Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ,for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek..(NKJV), and Philippians 3:10″…that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death…(NKJV)We can know and walk in the power of the resurrection. We can rise above the C.I.A’s(Circumstances, Incidents and Accidents) of life.

So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by Teniecka ( TDrake) Drake and we really admire them and what they’ve built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with Teniecka ( TDrake).
I was looking to do something that was not so expensive because I was on airwave radio. The Radio show was called Lunch with Minister Sutton”. I would interview Pastors and Bible teachers and the background noise was like cafeteria noise. While we are placing our orders in the show I would place my order. My order was double cheeseburger fries and a large shake I wanted to eat lite. (That was the comic relief) I had engineer before I had to pay. I miss those days it was fun but, expensive. We met on Anchor which is now Spotify I got an email about Anchor. I came across T Drake’s show. I liked she was talking about God. At the time they had a feature where you could send messages. We exchanged a few messages back and forth at first. Then we exchanged numbers she showed me the ins and outs of podcasting. She taught me the basics structures about intros and outros.
How we got to the SoCal Podcast Explosion. She told me about her dream about putting on the event. It was suppose to be multiple people she connected with. I believed in her dream and supported her financially and she put in as well. Essentially it was her and I that put on that event. It was very successful with all the podcasters that came out and the independent artists.
T would show me something and she would introduce me to other platforms. She showed me about YouTube and then IG and Clubhouse . She is an awesome podcaster and friend and now it is more than just podcasting. I know her family which is her children which she has allowed me to know them.
We did “Monday Morning Convos” and our niche show we have been doing which is “Cuffing Season”. Podcasting is a way to tell your story. I would tell anyone wanting to get started to connect with T. If they want to get started she can help just be willing to pay. There have been people T has helped and they never said thank you. You can tell that ideas have been stolen but, she continues doing what she does. We did a show on Roku and we may revisit that at another time. That was God’s Gift Through His Word the 4 episode TV show. The possibilities are endless and T is willing to let people grow. She is the “Podcasting Godmother” and, I think she would be a great talk show host main stream. There is nothing she can’t do if she puts her mind to it. We will be looking to host multiple events in the near future.
