Meet Dorothea Jernigan of Luxury RV Rentals in Glendale

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dorothea Jernigan.

Dorothea, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started my company in July 2014. My friends and I were sitting out by the pool one day when one of them asked me what I was going to do with the RV, which was sitting in my driveway. I didn’t know how to drive it and my husband was too ill. One of them piped in and stated, why not consign it! Again I didn’t know what that meant either so I googled it. I immediately found a platform that allowed people with RVs to rent them out. What a great idea, I thought. I immediately contacted them and started my company – Luxury RV Rentals LLC. I have since grown to 8 more RVs, which are rented year-round. I also have a website where you can find me at LuxuryRVRentalsLLC.com.

I am a small company and prefer staying this way to keep a familiar relationship with my customers. I love it when they return and share their experiences with me and the joy I bring to them. It’s almost as if I’ve gone on the trip with them. Most of my customers come from out of state to visit the beautiful areas Arizona has to offer, such as the Grand Canyon, Prescott and Sedona. A lot of them continue up to Monument Valley and Yellowstone, which makes for a wonderful vacation. I also offer customers a consignee service where I will plan their trip for them. Those are the most exciting for me to see how they enjoyed the places I picked for them. We offer RVs for the locals as well who go to such events as NASCAR, Country Thunder, etc.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Opening a new company always has its up and down, especially learning about running an RV business I knew nothing about. The laws involved and learning the ropes. And, of course, sometimes dealing with the public can be challenging at best.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Luxury RV Rentals – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
I am the owner of the company. We specialize in Recreational Vehicle “RV” Rentals. I perform all the paperwork to include contracts. My son, Daniel, is the General Manager of the company. He makes sure the RVs are cleaned prior to leaving and scheduling. We have a cleaning crew that cleans the RVs, Thomas and his wife Stacey Stones from Rolling Stones Cleaning Services. And when the outside gets really dirty, we take them over to Danny’s Truck Wash and give them a bath.

We also have a shop, Superior Racing Development, which does all of our maintenance work. The cute side of the business is we’ve named each one of our RVs a female name. The customers get such a kick out of that too. We have Lucy, Minnie, Winnie, Greta, Sunny, Ellie, Alice and the only male RV is Mack. We ran out of girl names! What sets us apart from others is we care about our customers. If they have a problem no matter the hour, they can call us and we will walk them through any problem they may be having. We believe customer service is crucial. Additionally, all of our RVs are completely stocked with everything you will need for your trip at no extra charge to the customer.

So, what’s next? Any big plans?
My future plans are to possibly add a few more RVs but not more than ten. As I stated before, we are small and I don’t want to get so big I lose sight of why I’m doing this in the first place.
