Today we’d like to introduce you to Dorian Richardson.
Dorian, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have always wanted to be a doctor since I was in preschool. As I grew up, I worked in a doctor’s office for the experience. During my time shadowing, I realized that I wanted to practice medicine, but I wanted to do it differently. I wanted my patients to truly experience complete wellness and health. I didn’t want my practice to be another stop to get your monthly pills but never address the root cause of the symptoms you were experiencing. I wasn’t sure how I was going to do that, but I knew I would figure it out. After taking the MCAT and during my application processes to traditional medical programs I was introduced to naturopathic medicine. I had no idea what a Naturopathic Physician was, however, I loved everything I was reading. The principals that the medicine stood on resonated with me, especially the principles of treating the whole person and addressing the root cause. So, I switched paths and applied to Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine in Tempe, AZ. There I was trained to be a great physician and use alternatives, when safe, to help address the root causes of my patients concerns. After graduating, I decided to start my own practice with the hope that I could help as many people as possible. I decided to start a mobile clinic, where I could come directly to a person’s home and deliver quality healthcare with love. That was a few months before the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. Since then, I still do house visits, with proper screening, but also incorporated telehealth services so I can continue reaching the community. I also have a clinic once a week in San Tan Valley. Starting in January, we will be opening up our next location and we are very excited to be able to expand our reach.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Smooth…lol…definitely not. However, every bump has been worth it. s. Starting a business is no easy feat, especially if you have no business experience, but it has been a great learning curve. Life doesn’t stop when you start a business and you are busy. So, in the midst of it all I have had to deal with taking care of my family, managing both places and the loss of family members, most recently including my father. It was life shattering, but through it all I still keep pushing to accomplish my goals. I want to be able to provide quality healthcare in love to all who need it. I incorporate love and kindness in all aspects of my business because love can help heal as well. I want to address my patients physical, mental, and emotional health in every aspect of treatment.
So, let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Agape Health and Wellness story. Tell us more about the business.
Agape Health and Wellness is a medical practice that is here to help motivate and empower our patients to become the best versions of themselves physically, mentally, and emotionally. We deliver quality healthcare in love to everyone. At Agape Health and Wellness, we can help with many conditions, from acute illnesses to autoimmune disorders. We provide consultations, acupuncture, homeopathy, botanical medicine, yoni steams, and medical marijuana certifications. I focus on sexual and reproductive health for both men and women. We also sell a variety of herbal products, including elderberry syrup and you can purchase our special blend of yoni steam herbs so you can do yoni steams on your own at home.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I don’t think luck played a big role in my life and business. I think everything I have can be attributed to hard work, ambition, dedication and LOTS of prayer.
