Meet Donatella Azygous

Today we’d like to introduce you to Donatella Azygous.

Donatella Azygous

Hi Donatella, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, let’s briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
Hi, my name is Donatella Azygous, and I am the founder of the Azygous Art Haüs. Azygous Art Haüs is a creative, safe space with an imaginative aesthetic and a diverse art collection. We are a collective of multidisciplinary female artists that specialize in tattooing. Arriving at this point has been a long and winding road since I was first introduced to tattooing in 2006. I began through curiosity and soon after fell in love with the art form. Throughout the years, I grew with the art, taking it wherever I went; Colombia, college, art galleries, shops, and private studios. This winding road led me to where I am today. The craving to create a unique atmosphere and experience for clients and artists inspired me to bring the Azygous Art Haüs to fruition. I am focused on building my all-female team of emerging artists and cultivating a nurturing atmosphere for anyone who enters here.

It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Is it ever a smooth road toward greater goals?! The answer is no! Haha, there are challenges and growing pains on almost a daily basis. The most important task for me to tackle has been to operate on the most professional level possible, including a lot of official paperwork type of activities. As an artist, I must wear my businesswoman pants and handle all the business details. There’s no one telling me what to do; there are no deadlines; it’s all self-imposed rules to see progress.

Thanks for sharing that. So, you could tell us a bit more about your work.
I like to consider myself an entrepreneurial artist. I tattoo, paint, design, dabble in fashion and run the Azygous Art Haüs. I’m mostly known for my single needle and fine-line tattooing. One of the defining factors in work is my attention to detail. I do my best to apply this quality to everything I do, from tiny tattoos to large-scale paintings and every project. It’s all about the details.

Are any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
Three books have helped shape and guide my adult life.

These books are:
1. Think and grow rich by Napoleon Hill
2. The Daily Stoic by Ryan Holiday
3. The War of Art by Steven Pressfield

I recommend these to anyone looking to expand their perspective and shape their daily life through positive habit formation.
