Meet Dmitri Medina

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dmitri Medina.

Dmitri, before we jump into specific questions about your work, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My story has begun when I was a child and my grandpas have a collection of albums of old photos at that moment I became obsessed with photography. The years pass an I still obsessed with film but the true it’s that film requires time and I don’t have so many of that in this days so I only shoot film occasionally but in my digital images I always try to emulate film using vintage lenses, edit any kind of tweak I can so the image has that vintage look. This is how I get into photography then the kind of photos I take well that’s another story I do shootings an I make money doing it but to be sincere I just shoot because I love it so I don’t have a style of image or a preference I just try to get inspiration in anything because beauty it’s everywhere.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road has been smooth the only struggle I have it’s the time, we want to do so many things in just one life that we only make a disaster so we need to focus on one thing at the time

Please tell us about your work.
Well, me and my partner work doing shooting and photo tour as I call them, this last one it’s a combination of a natural or historical tour with a paparazzi as I always explain to my clients. Me and my partner follow a person or a couple to different places we consider that have a hidden beauty and use these places for the shooting so the clients would end with tons of photos that are beautiful and genuine.

What were you like growing up?
My childhood was excellent In a certain way just the occasional bully because I always been a little bit extroverted and gay so this always been an excuse for the kids to bullying, but to be sincere today I say thanks to this awful kids because in a certain way I am who I am today thanks to that.
