Meet Dior Cox of Zara Moon Co in MESA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dior Cox.

Dior, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started Zara Moon Co after I had my sweet little girl. I wanted nothing more in the world than to be a Mom. So once I became one and it was more difficult (mentally) than I thought, I was shook. I struggled with finding ‘me’ again. I had to find a new confidence in myself. I LOVE being a mother! It will always come first.

But in order to be the best mom I can be I needed to work on myself. I have always been a creative person and have used that as an outlet. I worked in the fashion world before being a Mom and it was my absolute favorite! I love creating/finding new trends and am ALL about the accessories! I saw the tassel earrings and knew I NEEDED ( not wanted, but needed ) a pair. They were all so expensive so I decided to figure out how to make them. I made a couple of pairs for myself. Then some for friends and family. I then created an Instagram page and sold a few here and there locally. I started to create the pom earrings and people were hooked! I created an Etsy page and started to go to events. I started to brand myself and create my community. With the support of my community, friends and especially my husband I now have done tons of photo shoots, have my own site, am creating new styles of earrings and run a legit business!

Has it been a smooth road?
My road has not been smooth. Definitely some speed bumps and potholes! Haha, I have done events where I only sold three pairs of earrings. My first show multiple people thought the pom earrings were ear warmers!!! There are other brands who take my color schemes and unique styles and sell them as their own. It has been tough finding other small shops that TRULY want to see you do your best and will help support you. I try really hard not to focus on the negative or the downfalls. There is always going to be those people who don’t believe in you. The ones who tell you to get a real job or not to start your own business because it’s hard. The ones who tell you, you’re not a good mother because you work.

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the Zara Moon Co story. Tell us more about the business.
Zara Moon Co is an earring company for the trendy, badass, boho babes. What sets my company apart from the rest is that ALL of earrings are handmade. I take the time to test each new style of earring to make sure they fit my customer’s lifestyle perfectly! Each package comes with a handwritten thank you. I LOVE chatting with my customers and discovering what they love and want to see. Might sound cliche but I am most proud of my customers. If it was not for such loyal, sweet customers I would not be a brand.

So, what should we be on the lookout for, what’s next in store for you?
I’m flippin PUMPED for the future! I’m releasing my first wedding collection in March! I am constantly getting ideas for new collections and can’t wait to break some fashion barriers!
