Meet DiAnna Black Jackman of NorthStar Title Agency

Today we’d like to introduce you to DiAnna Black Jackman.

Hi DiAnna, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I started in the title and escrow industry by accident as most people do. I was living in Chicago Illinois at the time, and I was a Jr. in high school; it was my summer break and my sister worked for a bank, she called and woke me up and told me I had to help her friend who was a sales manager for a title company deliver packages because their messenger quit. I begrudgingly agreed and within a few weeks I was delivering packages during the day and doing small office jobs after until the evening. I would look up ownership information for clients that requested it. I thought if I created a document that included the requested information and charged them, they would stop asking. A few weeks later the owner of the company asked to meet with me and told me I was creating quite the revenue stream with my attempt to dissuade people from asking us for free information. He asked if I would like to create a department dedicated to this. He was shocked when I told him I would have to go back to high school in a few weeks. I continued to work at the title company after school and when I graduated, they hired me full time. I relocated to Scottsdale AZ in 2014 and started as an escrow officer. Over the next ten years I grew to the top five percent in the western region, I became a branch manager and then worked my way to Vice President of Escrow Operations. Working under the FNF umbrella for 33 years, I decided to take a leap of faith and took the role of President at a small locally owned company. Three years later with the help of two amazing women we opened NorthStar Title Agency, a boutique people first woman owned and operated title and escrow company. We also opened NorthStar 1031 exchange company shortly there after.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the biggest struggles we have faced is protecting the vision, brand and culture of the company while scaling a bit too fast. We had to course correct and get back to basics. We are a small but mighty group with a shared vision and now hire with our core values at the heart of our culture. Delivering excellence, driving innovation, promoting knowledge, inspiring brilliance and fostering fun are values that all of our employees hold.

NorthStar Title Agency specializes in commercial and luxury residential. Our experienced staff can handle any Complex real estate transaction with ease and care. We customize the real estate experience for our partners and their clients. At NorthStar Title we play golf not football, we are always trying to be better than we were the year before and keep our attention on our clients not our competitors. We bring support and knowledge to our employees so they can give our clients the very best with cutting edge, forward thinking service. We offer Title, Escrow and 1031 exchange services to most counties in Arizona.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
I have had some great mentors over the years but the one that stands out is a woman by the name of Darlene Kosin, my first Sales manager in Chicago Illinois. Darlene showed me that hard work, and a client centric mindset can bring you an amazing fulfilling career. She taught me how to show up and take on the world.
My partners Shannon Johnson and Kristin Guadagno played a huge roll in cheering me on and raising up through out my career here in Arizona. They both pushed me to the next level and showed me the way to building an amazing company with them by myside I feel unstoppable.
