Today we’d like to introduce you to Diann Peart.
Diann, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I am an ecologist and am very concerned about the number of harmful and toxic chemicals in our daily lives. Working with a colleague who was a professional house cleaner and had become ill with her exposure to these chemicals, we developed Truce, non-toxic, safe, simple and effective household cleaning products. We started in the back house on my property and launched in 2008 at the Downtown Phoenix Farmers Market.
We now occupy 1800 square feet of space in MAC6, a co-working manufacturing warehouse and have grown from 3 SKUs to 19. Truce products are sold on our online site on Amazon, ThriveMarket.com, and Sprouts, Whole Foods, Fry and Gelson’s in California.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has been a very smooth road for our great products once a customer tries them we have them. We had them at All-Purpose Cleaner and many have grown with us. The struggles have been mostly in learning curves adding to our team, securing funding to grow, finding local suppliers and vendors. All the usual challenges for a small business!

The Truce is known for having safe, simple and very effective cleaning products. We’re very proud of our products and our growth-we are moving toward national distribution and expanding our reach with grocery stores and e-commerce sites. We use the highest quality ingredients often food grade and organic. What sets us apart is the passion and commitment we bring to Truce. We have an amazing team at our mega table that believes in the products and each other. It’s a gift!
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
In our Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) category, which is crowded and very competitive, success is getting in there, on shelves, on e-sites and expanding. I also mark success in building a formidable team that daily brings their enthusiasm and commitment to Truce. When we reach $10M in sales we’ve truly succeeded in changing the landscape of customer brand loyalty-moving from the chemical products to the arena of safe and sustainable household cleaning products.
