Today we’d like to introduce you to Arnetti Morris.
Arnetti, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I suppose it all began when my grandma, my father’s mom let me work in her candy store at the ripe old age of ten. From that point in time on, I was stung by the entrepreneurial bug. I have tried numerous ventures over the years from being a landlord to MLMs. I flopped at more than a few ventures. LOL.
I stumbled upon the profession of being a Notary Public. One day, I was watching YouTube, and a video came across my screen. It was of a lady who was a Notary, and she was expressing how much she liked being one, etc. Well, the rest is history. I had to know more about being a mobile Notary Public. I was deeply intrigued. I must’ve binge-watched at least fifty videos. I was drawn in. You mean I could help people in need, make money and hold a position of importance too. Sign me up. I immediately went and followed all of the necessary steps to become a Notary, to set up an LLC, and to get some additional training. To top that off, I took it just a step further and became a certified Notary Signing Agent, also known as a Loan Signing Agent. I get to help individuals and couples close out their real estate transactions. Being a Notary is just plain cool! I get to meet interesting people all over Phoenix and the surrounding area. Everyone from Rappers to Doctors to individuals who have trouble getting around.
My family moved here from Chi-Town, or more commonly known as Chicago in November 2018 in search of a better life, and a better environment for our children. I had some health issues before leaving. But I must say that Phoenix sunshine has been some of the best medicine I could’ve ever gotten ahold of. Every day, I feel better and better.
And as I go to and fro meeting some remarkable individuals and hearing their stories, it makes it all worthwhile. Since March of 2019, I have gotten to help numerous individuals and families.
Has it been a smooth road?
Becoming a mobile Notary honestly has been one of the best roads I’ve walked down. Of course, after getting the credentials, my biggest obstacle is letting everyone out there who need a notarization know that I can help them.
Every time I go out on a call, my goal is to give excellent service with a smile and a dash of “Hey, human to human–I Care”. Oftentimes, when people are in need of a Notary, its because someway somehow they are trying to move their life forward, their goals forward. Whether it’s selling a car so they can put some money in their household, or filing formal paperwork to homeschool their children. It’s all of paramount importance to that individual. The person may be stressed. I have even seen people cry. My goal is always to leave them in a better state than I found them.
My business is growing day by day. It is an awesome thing to see it blossom. I will continue to treat each customer as though they are important, cause they are. And I expect more business to follow.
Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I am a Mobile Notary and certified National Notary Association (NNA) Notary Signing Agent. Notarizing documents is my main specialty. I notarize items for the general public, more commonly referred to by our industry as “general notary work”. Additionally, I facilitate all types of real estate closings such as purchases, refinances, HELOCs, etc. I also offer I-9 verification services. Other companies seek out my services to notarize contract paperwork for their clients. I travel to my clients and provide them with on the spot convenience.
I’m most proud of being of service to others. I love being able to show up where my service is truly needed. For the majority of services I perform, without my stamp and signature, my clients cannot advance their paperwork. It is a very gratifying feeling to know that other people are depending on me to advance their life in some way.
How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
Everyone needs a Notary at some point in time. Whether it’s to notarize a power of attorney, a title transfer, or for a real estate closing, etc. Someone somewhere will always need a Notary in order to advance some transactions they are involved in. Because of this fact, the future is bright for Notaries. There are more than 4.4 Million Notary Publics in the United States. However, like any profession, there are certain caveats. Some notaries only serve as a notary in conjunction with their 9 to 5 jobs, and pretty much only service internal job-related notary requests. While others may do the profession on the side or full-time. We all have different availability and bandwidth. Mobile Notaries provide an additional value-add. We offer convenience in a microwave, I need it “right now” world. We travel to our clients.
According to the National Notary Association, 39% of Notaries said that their business is profitable in under a year. Now, how many businesses can say that. In a profession that offers time freedom, it will only grow.
Technology has changed many professions and I anticipate there will be further “disruption” in our field too. Remote Online Notarization or RON is blooming in several states and will become implemented in Arizona soon. Meaning, Individuals in Arizona will also soon be able to get documents notarized right from their computer. This will bring even more convenience and additional revenue to our field. I don’t see Notaries disappearing. I just see that there will be more options on how we service our clients.
