Meet Derrick Taylor of Maximum AV Solutions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Derrick Taylor.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Derrick. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
My interest in electrical work started back when we had shop class in high school. I entered competitions and won many of them, then I started apprentice work by installing the lights in grocery store parking lots. Even though this path sparked a deep interest, I ended up going into the corporate financial industry for several years. When my family and I moved to Arizona, I began helping friends with their home theater and audio systems. A passion I got from childhood watching my dad get into the latest gadgets. Once I started putting the home theaters together, I began helping out with small electrical projects here and there and realized that my passions I had as a young man was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. It is never too late to live your dream and do work that makes you happy. So, I left corporate, started my company, got my license and have been beyond happy with my transition ever since. Everyday we get more and more requests that are so creative the project feels like playtime because it is so exciting to execute! We have grown to installations and services for residential and commercial properties that include electrical, security cameras, networking, home theater, audio, landscape lighting and more.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The path to starting a company after having a steady job is never an easy road. But it has a journey that showed me so much about myself and what I can do and handle. You know some struggles are just having the faith to go out on a limb. It was tough learning how to build clientele in the residential world, then doing the same in the commercial market. It was a struggle to figure out pricing and even who to get to work for you. But it has all been worth it and it made me learn what kind of business I wanted to have and what I wanted us to be known for.

Please tell us more about the company.
We are an electrical and custom integrator company. We do residential and commercial electrical services, audio/video and home theater services, residential and commercial security services, as well as computer IoT services and more. We are known for our pristine work, customer service and industry knowledge. But we are most proud of our customer service. Our exceptional customer service is what sets us apart from our peers. We know that when it comes to projects like these swift, honest, polite and informative communication is paramount. We hope that our experience makes our clients feel like they got to work with their best friend the whole time, just more professional!

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Nothing! I wouldn’t have changed this journey. My faith and trust in Jesus is my foundation to being able to see the process through no matter what it brings. I see so much more value in what I do now than I ever could have when I was in my early twenties. I am right where I need to be at the right time.
