Today we’d like to introduce you to Dennis A. Tyrrell II.

After retiring from a 23yr public safety career in 2015, I opened Tyrrell Coaching Solutions a boutique, performance based consultancy specializing in leadership training, organizational development, and executive coaching. Having personally “crashed and burned” from the grind of being a high-impact leader, I realized that executives are typically the most under supported group in an organization. My understanding of psychology, human behavior, and performance as it related to leadership gives me the unique ability to challenge the “status quo” and move organizations toward their strategic outcomes. I’m currently traveling internationally presenting my signature Bossing: Back to the Basics leadership development series.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Transitioning from a “tax based” revenue stream as a public official into the private sector proved to be more challenging than I had anticipated. As a fire chief, I had a “captive audience” that had to pay their taxes regardless of the service(s) provided. Since entering private practice, I’ve had to learn the “art” of client acquisition and retention. While I still continue to learn “business practices”, I’m enjoying being free of the “golden handcuffs” and the ability to impact a larger audience!

Please tell us about your business.
Truly, the stakes have never been higher for the C-Suite. 21st Century executives are busier than ever and need “real-time” solutions to make effective decisions. TCS is more than just assessments, data collecting and telling an executive what or how to do something. While I have developed a basic curriculum, all of my organizational development and leadership training are customized to align culture and climate with strategic outcomes.

I am best known for Bossing: Back to the Basics – a comprehensive leadership development program specifically designed to equip 21st-century leaders with the mindset, vision, and ability to create opportunities from challenges.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Like many, my definition of success is constantly evolving! At this stage of my life, success is defined by developing up & coming leaders, watching them kickass personally and professionally while providing myself the freedom to be who I want to be.
