Meet Delia Ann Hayden of Never Winter Bodies with Delia in Gilbert

Today we’d like to introduce you to Delia Ann Hayden.

Delia Ann, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I have been teaching group fitness for five years. I am certified with AFAA for Group Fitness and also certified in Tabata Bootcamp, PiYo Live, Barre Above, Cycle and Pilates. I started playing sports when I was five years old and have always been active. My dad was a coach so the gym was my second home. This is where I found a love of sports and became active. Things changed when I went to college and gained the freshman 15, plus some. After that year, I decided to get back into the gym and take my first step aerobics class. After that class, I was hooked and wanted to teach group fitness classes and support others like me with fluctuating weight. I was too scared to instruct at that time, so fast forward ten years, and moving states, that I started teaching group classes!

Being around others, motivating them and gaining new friends truly feeds my soul. The energy from the members in class fuels me to keep growing my knowledge and understanding of healthy living. I want others to get out of their comfort zones to feel like they can do anything they desire and reach goals! I ask you to join me on our crazy ride together!! Let’s Go!!! It’s a marathon not a sprint! After numerous diets, workouts, and weight loss pills….still, a journey. It’s heartache and frustration. You learn to let go, love yourself, and keep moving forward! I am here for you not just to lead you through my workouts but to understand your journey. Believe me, I know and I understand the process! Better yet, transformation.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My fitness and weight loss journey has been a bumpy road. I was called Miss Piggy in elementary school and was always the heavier friend. I am bigger breasted than most of my friends and that has been a very uncomfortable issue with me. I had very low self-esteem and finally, I am getting to a point in my life where I have more confidence that I ever have had before. As a bigger kid growing up, I always put myself down. I always compared myself to others. I always wanted what my friends had, a flat stomach and smaller breasts. I was always active though. I played basketball since I was five years old and played all sports in middle and high school but was always heavier than most girls. In college, I gained the freshman 15 and stopped working out. After college, I started going to the gym and working out and getting on a healthier regime. It has been a journey though. I was on Weight Watchers in college because I got a breast reduction. Yes, you heard that right. I was uncomfortable with them and had to lose weight. I have tried mostly all the ‘weight loss’ supplements and got very sick from them.

Then I decided to just start training for a half marathon to lose weight. I did! I accomplished my first half marathon and have run seven more since including one in less than two hours! I felt great! I was very motivated and felt like I could do anything. I still wasn’t happy because I didn’t have that ‘runner’s body.’ I started lifting and going to group classes and got hooked at the gym. I became certified to teach group fitness classes but was too intimated to teach in my 20s because I didn’t look the part…..very lean and muscular. Finally, I got married and had two boys and we moved to Arizona. It wasn’t until we moved to Gilbert that I auditioned at two gyms and started teaching group fitness classes. Now I am on a journey to help others like me. I have tried mostly every diet or pill. I have failed and ruined my self-esteem. Now, I am in place where I understand how to be happy, like my body and stay fit. I want to help others like me to just be happy!

Please tell us about Never Winter Bodies with Delia.
I have been teaching group fitness classes for over five years. When Covid-19 hit and we had to stay home, I started a free Facebook fitness group where I would go Live and teach a class to my friends. Because Covid-19 shook up our daily life, many of you, including myself, are still working out at home. I decided to take another step and keep teaching virtually and start my own online business… Even though states have opened up some people are still staying home and working out. I started a NEW workout community on Private Facebook Group called Never Winter Bodies by Delia! Don’t get me wrong, I love the gym, but I have been guiding a free Facebook group and they motivated me to continue to grow! I enjoyed them so much that I wanted them to continue to grow with me and in turn, help them reach whatever goal they have. In an effort to keep growing as an instructor, I am constantly completing training on the latest methods from well-vetted leaders in the industry.

I am certified in many different areas: PiYo Live, Cycle, Barre Above, Pilates and overall AFAA Group Fitness.

I feel I can guide my members to get out of their comfort zone and get uncomfortable during their workout and feel like a powerhouse!

I am so proud to continue the brand name Never Winter. My husband owns a pool service company called Never Winter Pools and now I have Never Winter Bodies. We are showing our two young boys that you can start a business that you love and never give up.

Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood……I played basketball in high school and I loved it! I loved the Bulls, Scottie Pippen was my all-time favorite so my number has always been 33! My favorite memory is just running out to the music before our game! Pre-game! That was so fun! It was like when the Bulls would run out! So exciting, I would just get so pumped!
