Today we’d like to introduce you to Delbert Vega.
Delbert, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
It’s interesting how we began. One day, my brother gives me a call out of the blue as I’m sitting at work. He asked me if I can record his wedding since at the time I was working for NBC as a multimedia journalist. I immediately say NO!! I want to enjoy myself and not have to work. A blessing in disguise is what I say because I did NOT want to do it. Sure enough, he convinces me and I do it. Once I was done I posted it on social media just to share with our family that didn’t make it. Before you know it… my messenger is filled with questions “how much do you charge” “can you do my wedding next month” “we’d like to hire you”. And I haven’t stopped since.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It’s been a roller coaster. Quality of video moves so fast it can be both stressful and expensive to try and keep up. Whether it’s the latest camera, drone or attire. The biggest struggle has been the gamble. Do I spend $3,000 on advertising? Do I spend $2,500 on a new camera or should I rent it? The worst is not knowing the ROI (return on investment). I’ve been blessed with a smart & creative team. Most of my team is filled with former news journalist.
Please tell us about Vision & Love.
Vision&Love offers cinematic wedding films. We specialize on the cinematic part. We don’t want you to simply want a shaky video or a boring video… we want you to watch a film. Capturing priceless moments and stunning visuals. With that, we bring in steady cams, drones and sliders. I think what sets us apart is the hunger to stay fresh and up to date. We’re all young. We average an age of 22. I’m most proud of being able to make couples happy and knowing that we’re all happy doing it.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
First of all, I don’t think I’ll ever leave the valley of the sun. This place is filled with the best sunsets, amazing restaurants, and a fun energy. Yes, the summers can be a little toasty but you don’t appreciate the sunshine if you never get a stormy day. I love that we’re 2 hours away from snowboarding, 1.5 hours away from Sedona, 3 hours away from California, it’s perfect.
