Meet Dehwe Rose

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dehwe Rose.

Hi Dehwe, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
My start-up story is not the typical one. I have never worked with an agent or anything like that. One day after I got off work and ran into a photographer who asked if I was a model. I had never modeled a day in my life at the time but, I told him “yes”. He asked if he could shoot me because he recently started getting into photography. We did a quick shoot but he told me the setting on his camera were wrong and asked if we could do another shoot. We did the shoot again a week later and I posted the pictures on my Instagram, they started gaining a lot of traction on my account.

About a month later I went to my first casting call I thought I did awful it was my first time walking, but then the show coordinator asked me to stay after to take some pictures for the show’s promotion and I was in the show. That whole show was a fantastic experience and to this day is the best show I have walked in. At that show, I met a lot of great people I still keep in touch with. I also made a ton of business and networking connections that helped propel me to where I am today. Through all those connections it allowed me to do things beyond modeling like host concerts and other events which helped me build my social media up.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would say the biggest challenge is being a male because there aren’t as many opportunities out there for females.

For example, if you go to a casting call of 200 models the show is only picked about 100 depending on how big the show is. Out of the 200 models, 120 are female and 80 are male the show probably picks 80 of those girls and 20 guys. Most designers do not have a lot of male clothes in their line up so there are already strictly only looking for a particular physique.

You will also notice a lot of the same male faces at a lot of shows I know when I go to casting I will see guys I always work with. There are a few other male models that I know I will see in the show because there has a great walk and they fit the body type most designers typically have clothes for.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a jack of all trades I promote/host events, model, entrepreneur, and am a social media influencer. I am most known for my modeling as I have been doing it the longest and built my name around but I have also branched out into multiple things. I started working on new business ventures. One of the things I had the pleasure of being a part of is a new product called Tongue Ties. It is a shoe accessory that holds the tongues of your shoes firmly in the center as you wear them. I have also worked closely with Royalty Ultra Events monthly for their events. It is the ultimate party experience for everyone. It is upscale, classy meets sexy.

They play various genres of music so everyone can catch a vibe. It is in The Monarch so there are sections and bottle service is available. Aside from that, I have future events that I am planning soon and I have some projects I am working on as well that I will post on my Instagram soon. I would say what sets me apart from others is the energy and vibe that I bring everywhere. I leave a mark on everyone I encounter as people have told me. I have an aura to me that is unmatched. I also put an immense amount of work into my crafts.

I am most proud of how far I have gotten from where I started even how far I have come in life in general. I have overcome a lot of challenges in my life that I have gotten past so every day I just think about how I am a better man than I was yesterday.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
I believe risk-taking is necessary to get anywhere in life. I took the risk of going to my first casting call. I had practiced my walk only a few times before going, but that was the only model walking I had ever done. I didn’t let not having an experience stop me because how else will I know if I can if never tried? You can’t let fear stop you if something makes you uncomfortable that means it’s your weakness.

For instance, I have a love-hate relationship with cliff jumping. I hate free falling through the air but I love diving into the water I always go with a group of friends the push me to step out of my comfort zone because we know after I do that first jump it will be like nothing. Once you do it and get over the fear you realize that you had nothing to fear in the first place. There is risk in every aspect of life it is unavoidable so you just have to take it head on and put your best forth. I am going to take a big risk with some of my future projects as I explore the music and acting industries. I don’t know where it will take but you miss every shot you don’t take.
