Meet Deborah Miller of All of metro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Deborah Miller.

Deborah, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My story began when I was three years old.
My dad was a zoologist. And my mom loved nature.
My childhood was exceptionally exciting as I was always getting to be a part of nature and get dirty and have fun and learn about every single animal that we came in contact with.
My dad would always pick up things and make me hold them, whether it was a snake, frog, tarantula, lizard or a fish or a crawdad, or insect etc. My mom was a die hard nature lover too.

I was fascinated always with the natural world much more than I was with the indoor world. If I was afraid of something, I wasn’t allowed to be afraid I would have to overcome.
My love for a misunderstood. Creature’s grew throughout my lifetime, and I became an actress in Hollywood, only to find that I hated it and that’s how Debs Dragons began. I was finishing college and I didn’t have the math brain that I needed to get the marine biology or zoology degree. Thus I decided on communications and public speaking.
I Combined my love of creatures and helping people to overcome their fears and to interact with things that were uncommon and that many people were afraid of. I can get anybody to hold pretty much anything in our collection.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I guess the beginning of it wasn’t really a smooth road because I was getting divorced and I had been a stay home mom for quite a while and I was a part of a huge church and that was kind of like my family, but when I decided to get divorced, they kind of kicked me out of the church and most people stopped talking to me, which was odd. it just wasn’t the family anymore, so I went back to school and got some therapy, and got divorced and from there it just kind of became a part of me that I worked on and then it just grew from there, I started in California, and then I brought my business to Arizona, where it began to thrive, and I was just happy being able to help so many people overcome their fears.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Our business is called Debs Dragons Wildlife encounters, and Fear Factor events.
In the beginning, my business was called Deb’s Dragons and Other Misunderstood Creatures…
I believe that what set us apart from just bringing animals to a party, or a school, or a corporate event, etc. is that we bring a lot of love and connection through the animals, and overcoming fears is naturally connective

We bring such an array of unique creatures from all around the world that most people are afraid of, and it really bonds a connection between us and the people as we share these creatures with them

We have quite a bit of unique creatures in our collection from unique Snakes from Around The world and so many different colors. It is magnificent to watch them move together. It’s so beautiful, from dragons and skinks and geckos and millipedes and tarantulas from different parts of the world, and and an array of insects that are so fun to interact with. I would say that our biggest audience is children, and they are so inquisitive and don’t have the fear that adults have, adults just naturally develop more fear as we get older, so I’m always trying to help the adults overcome their fears as well.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I was born in the city in Phoenix and grew up here in Phoenix and Scottsdale, and I love it, it’s such a great place to be active and find adventures and there’s tons of animals here too.

We do a lot of city events here throughout the greater metropolitan Phoenix, and those are my favorite shows because we get to have a lot of volunteers that are kids, that have been around for a long time with us, and they get to be helping others to overcome their fears in a very large scale event
