Meet DeAnn Fry of The Fry Team in West Valley

Today we’d like to introduce you to DeAnn Fry.

DeAnn, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
In 2001 I met the man that God gifted to me and his company relocated him to Miami Florida in 2002. In relocating, I found it difficult to find work and met this amazing woman: Kate Howell. She not only led me to Christ but also showed me what is today my career and hopefully the legacy I will leave for my family. She brought me under her wings and taught me real estate and sales. I started working in this field in 2003 in FL and then we relocated to AZ in 2007. In relocating here, I immediately obtained my real estate license and till today I still obtain my FL and AZ real estate license. I began working immediately after obtaining my license and have gradually built what is today THE FRY TEAM. I have undergone several bumps and bruises along the way, but I never gave up. There were times when working as a greeter at WalMart seemed more entertaining, but that was just my weakness wanting to take over.

After some encouragement from a fellow team member, I reached out and met with a business coach to help me with my business. Having a BBA was just one step but to know what to do with it for my business was another. This was one of the best things I could have done. He showed me the steps I needed to do to get what was inside my head out on paper and expressed through others. I still maintain coaching and guidance along the way but that initial step was imperative. He was a Christian like myself and understood the need I had to ensure that Christ was center of my business. I have also employed some financial consultants and accountants to show me the costs of business and where costs were going that I hadn’t seen before. I was able to make moves that made sense not only for me but also for my team to be able to prosper. Each day I take as a new one and am always learning.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In the beginning it was learning a new career and finding my gifts in this career. After that is dealing with people and learning how to manuever and still be of assistance helping our clients. Then moving to another state not knowing anyone to start a career that involves people and only relying on this as the income to be part of the support to our family. Then the market shift that took a major downturn. When you work on commissions and prices drop nearly 75% of where you were thats a huge cut and to learn how to adjust and still make the income needed. As well learn the constantly changing market, laws and rules. Learning quickly one cant do it alone and determine to build a business.

Starting one’s own company is an adjustment and feel the pressure of being the one that pays those that depend on you to support their families becomes another added stress. Understanding how to run a business that also incorporates independent consultants that you can not “control” but need to lead and encourage was another one. Trying to be able to share what’s inside on paper and express it to those that are part of the “dream” was hard, but once I learned it is awesome to share and see how this has spread so well. Then the next is learning to balance your day between a career that is 24 hours, a family with children that are growing, and a spouse that is not in the same career field but does understand sales. All and all keeping Christ centered and not letting this “world” break you.
