Meet David Weibel

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Weibel.

Hi David, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve been passionate about photography for nine years, starting as a hobby while working a full-time job. I was lucky enough to be able to pursue a career in photojournalism for a few years, which gave me a unique approach to documenting weddings, where I focus on capturing candid moments and emotions as they unfold.

After years of honing my skills and career shifts, I decided to take the leap and turn my hobby into a full-time business. I began promoting myself as a wedding photographer only a year and a half ago, but I’ve been fortunate enough to stay busy and establish myself as a reputable wedding photographer in Mesa.

I put my heart and soul into capturing all the emotions, the laughter, the tears, and the love, that makes each wedding unique and truly one of a kind. I am passionate about my craft, and I’m incredibly grateful to all my clients and support network who have made it possible to chase my dream. I feel incredibly blessed to be where I am today.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been a smooth road; I’d be lying if I said it was. Still, I wouldn’t want it any other way. As with any new thing, there were many challenges that I had to overcome. When I first started, I had to rely on savings and my partner to keep the business afloat.

It was a huge risk to leave a stable source of income, but I knew that it was something I was truly passionate about and I had a plan that I wasn’t backing down from. Another challenge I faced was learning how to run a business. I had to learn everything from accounting and taxes, especially marketing, all while trying to build a portfolio and a reputation as a reputable wedding photographer.

It was a steep learning curve, but I was determined to make it work. I still have a ways to go- but I’m incredibly proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish in the last 18 months. I’ve had to make sacrifices, but it’s all been worth it. Being a wedding photographer and small business owner is my dream job and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
As a wedding photographer, I specialize in photojournalism, capturing real moments and emotions as they unfold throughout the day. My background in journalism has given me a unique approach to documenting weddings, and I pride myself in my ability to tell each couple’s unique story through the photographs I take.

I am also known for my approach to making the photography experience as painless and stress-free as possible for my couples. I understand that a wedding day can be a whirlwind and my goal is to be as unobtrusive as possible while still capturing all the important moments. My clients appreciate the fact that I don’t follow wedding photography norms, as this approach allows for more authentic and genuine images that truly reflect their stories and who they are as a couple.

I am proud of the beautiful, authentic, and timeless images that I deliver to my clients. . I am known for my laid-back approach to documenting weddings and engagements which allows for a more relaxed and natural experience for my clients. I don’t believe in staging or posing for every photo and instead focus on capturing the real emotions and moments as they happen.

Overall, I believe that my laid-back approach and my focus on capturing candid and real moments sets me apart from others, giving my clients unique, authentic, and natural images that truly reflect their special day… and that’s something that I am incredibly proud of. It’s not just about taking beautiful pictures but also about creating an enjoyable and memorable experience for my clients, and that’s what I believe sets me apart.

Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Good food. Just kidding. (Not though.) Family and friends. The people we choose to surround ourselves with should be a source of happiness, not strife. I honestly love that my chosen job choice gives me the freedom to do what’s most important to me, and that’s spending time with the people who are most important to me.

Finally, I know it sounds like shameless self-promotion, but I do find a lot of fulfillment in my work. Seeing my clients happy, and knowing that I’ve played a small part in making their special day even more special and joyful, brings me immense satisfaction and joy. It makes me feel like I’m doing something truly meaningful and impactful.
