Meet David W. Torres

Today we’d like to introduce you to David W. Torres.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
I started playing instruments at a young age since I had a few musicians in the family. I was in school band from 4th to 9th grade until I bought my first guitar. Although I played piano, baritone, and saxophone, the guitar was my first real love. I taught myself how to play and started jamming with friends throughout high school.

I joined the military after high school and while in the Air Force, I started performing with local bands throughout the valley. While in one of these bands we recorded in a local studio. After a combination of being told what we wanted to hear, having unrealistic expectations and unethical engineers underperforming in terms of quality and sobriety, we decided to try and make our own records.

I stuck with home recording for several years working with clients then I decided to up the ante and attend the Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences. While attending, I had two bandmates that had a competing home studio and we decided to turn our two home studios into a business and built TallCat Studios in Phoenix.

I left TallCat in 2008 and I have been freelancing in audio performing various tasks from mixing, mastering, and composing music ever since on various contracts. I have been fortunate to work on TV commercials for Honda, music from Carolina Ross, Daniela Calvario, Lil Flip, and the up and coming Mr. Phelps.

Please tell us about your art.
It is really about making an impact with the audience. As an engineer, I believe my first audience is the client. It is their art, so they have to be made happy first.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?
