Meet David Miles

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Miles.

David, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My name is David Ja’Cory Dalon Miles, commonly known as “Miles Prime”, and I’m a 24-year-old musician born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona.

At just the early age of eight, I performed in my very first talent show in the second grade with a rap act written by my mother and the rest is history. From that point on I started to pick up and learn things mechanically that would lead up to me writing my own songs and stories, eventually falling in love with sounds and literature altogether.

But it wasn’t until the age of 14 that I actually got to record my very first song in studio, thanks to my uncle and in-house producer, Braumah. He taught me the basics and fundamentals of songwriting and structure. I took all of that knowledge and ran with it, forming me to become the artist I am today.

It took years and years of experimenting, failure, and internal growth to be where I am at today. I’m 1000% comfortable with who I am, what I stand for, and the message I inspire to share with the world. I’m propelling forward day by day to make sure that message is told through the stories I share within my music.

Has it been a smooth road?
The road definitely hasn’t been smooth and nothing-NOTHING, has come easy. The obstacles I’ve had to overcome have been tremendous, to the point where there’s been times I’ve wanted to give up. Afraid I wasn’t being heard or making any progress.

Whether it be performing at empty shows, sending out hundreds of emails of music just to get ignored, little to no support from friends and or family, personal issues holding back creative processes. These are all things that can make a young independent artist lose hope.

We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
I just love to write. I love the idea of being able to manipulate words with different tones and use my voice as an instrument on top of other instruments. Nowadays, a lot of people just make music to make it you know.

It’s become the popular thing to do but me, it’s my life. It’s the only way I feel I can tell my story and with a resume that strings along well over a decade, I’m confident in knowing that there could never be another David Miles. No fad, no exaggerations, and I only plan to grow and expand day by day not only as a brand or musician but as a human being who wants to enlighten other human beings that you could be yourself, tell your story and still make a difference and be heard.

So, what should we be on the lookout for, what’s next in store for you?
The past year I’ve been working on a seven-track self-titled EP named “It’s Me, David Miles”. I’ve said this before but it’s all of my consciousness, fears, sadness, happiness and life revelations all morphed into one sound.

It already has great buzz and attention on it and comes out June 15th on all streaming platforms. My future consists a lot on this project because for many many people who are just discovering me, or even those who may have already been familiar with my music, it’s the introduction to who I am as a person. Forget Miles Prime the artist, this is me David Miles. Live in the flesh.
