Today we’d like to introduce you to David Linhart.
Hi David, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I was working in a corporate job that I was miserable at…I only liked payday, but that can only go so far. I also owned a small pet food franchise at the time that I won through an organization called the Southwest Veterans Chamber of Commerce, so I was looking to build on that. One day, I decided to leave corporate life and go out on my own. I am an animal lover at heart, so I explored ways to succeed while working with animals. Of all the industries out there involving animals, the pet waste removal industry seemed to have the biggest opportunity.
The biggest thing I noticed that nobody in this field spent a lot of money on marketing. At Arizona State, my degree is in Global Business and Management, but my minor was Marketing. I know the power and necessity for marketing, so I decided to go in and change that. I purposefully designed my logo and company name to be memorable. I want to be the only name someone thinks of when they have a need for our services.
Being known is simply not enough, I want to be known as the best in the industry. Through the 4 years, we have been in business, we pride ourselves on the highest possible customer satisfaction. We have remained consistently good, and we are always looking for ways we can improve.
I started this business with just me, and I am so proud to say that we now have 4 employees as part of our team, and we are still growing. We have a goal to have 10 vehicles on the road by the end of 2023…I have no doubt that we will achieve that goal, and we will continue to bring our high level of service to the Phoenix Metro area.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I would say the consistent issue is change. We needed to completely shift when the franchise we owned decided to pull out of the US market, and again when Covid hit and it changed everyone’s lives. We shifted and managed to grow through adversity, but it was not easy for sure. After Covid, the employment situation was one that was incredibly difficult to work with. Finding people to do this kind of work, but take it seriously and do a good job for the right reasons was a difficult thing to do. We figured it out, and made this company a place that people would want to come work for.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are the premier company for pet waste removal in the Phoenix metropolitan area, and we have one of the most talented cat grooming teams around. Pet waste removal is the bulk of our business, but we have a fast-growing vertical that specializes in Mobile Cat Grooming. Our team travels around the valley to help cats with their nails, ears, shedding issues, matted fur, and so much more. With well over a decade of experience, our grooming team can handle all kinds of cats, and will make you and them comfortable in their fur.
Our pet waste removal side is our main business, and we cover the majority of the Phoenix Metro area. We service houses and apartments, and we perform a variety of services to assist with pet waste. We remove pet waste from single-family home yards, we patrol apartment complexes and HOA common areas, we service commercial waste stations and refill the individual waste bags that are on site, and we even have a cat box exchange service to remove and replace cat litter boxes at the frequency desired by our clients.
We take pride in our work. We deodorize for free with every visit, we haul away all waste with us when we are finished, and we even carry dog treats in our pockets to help make friends in every yard we visit. Our company employs only “dog or cat people”, we perform full background checks to ensure the safety and security of our clients and their homes, we are always in company-branded uniforms and vehicles, and we always display the highest level of professionalism and respect.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
As a kid, my absolute favorite memories involved driving across the country, and my favorite stop in all of those trips was Yellowstone National Park. Seeing nature in that raw form made a huge impact on me, and I have been back a few times since. I am looking to make another trip up there soon as I miss being that close to nature!
