Meet David Giuseppone of Flagstaff

Today we’d like to introduce you to David Giuseppone.

Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us how you got started?
Growing up in the 5 Boroughs of New York, Skating has always been a huge part of the ‘every day.’ Staying late to film midtown spots or to travel to an indoor training facility, such as the old ‘Autumn Bowl’ in Brooklyn. Skating is a way to express oneself, and having that individual expression, created a really fun dynamic growing up. My closest friends Benny Gofayzen’s “DeathVideo,” Joe Raczynski’s “Stay Tuned Auto,” and Paulie Connor’s “110 Studios” have been influencing good decision-making and helped me get to a more mature creative process. Moving to Arizona has been a nice change of pace, allowing me to tap into that creative “Flow” and focus. Currently, I tow cars and play music gigs to fund the creative process of designing and printing skateboards. One day I’d like to reach a level where each board purchased allows for another board to be given to a kid who could use it. I’d also like to develop an outreach program similar to “Hoods to Woods,” where underprivileged kids are taught how to ride for free. I’m currently playing drums with a metal band named “Winter Monolith,” and we’re recording an updated EP and scheduling shows for this winter; stay tuned! Giving back to the community is a big part of the ‘WÙLF’ theme; originally, the name comes from a dog I rescued in Cali called “Johnny Kashe.” Shortly after, I purchased a tow truck, and he would ride around with me. Being an animal lover and tow truck driver allowed me to help other animals who were either abandoned or strays. To this day, I’ve helped find homes for just under a dozen animals, which is a lifelong goal I’d like to accomplish; Setting aside resources to possibly start a non-profit animal rescue later in life would be a huge achievement.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As a struggling musician, tow truck driver, and aspiring entrepreneur. I’d say it’s an understatement to say there are a few obstacles and challenges. It may be because musicians spend so much money on gear and not enough time practicing. But for me, it’s the drive to create something special to be enjoyed long after I’m gone; That dream tells me to practice unconditionally and to continue aiming for new heights and practicing music, design work and skating. There’s always work to be done, and I believe that’s the drive that will help me achieve new goals.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in designing and printing skateboards. As well as play drums at a semi-professional level. I’m stoked to be learning every day; I’ll never consider myself an “expert” because a student learns every day, and a teacher will teach, but an expert gets comfortable and makes mistakes.

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you.
I don’t believe in luck, aside from circumstantial situations (I.E., car crashes, environmental hazards, etc.) I think the amount of hard work, practice, and dedication have a lot to do with the progression rate of any individual.
