Meet Danny Garcia of Dopeness Brand in Mesa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danny Garcia.

Danny, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Dopeness came about from being an underdog throughout my artistic career. For a decade, I dedicated my craft to the automotive industry by painting custom paintjobs. I’ve always been an artist at heart by constantly drawing to having a model car building hobby.

After gaining magazine features and countless awards, I became unhappy in my career, I had accomplished my dreams and felt like I needed to progress away from cars. I then started playing around with metal art and combining the two worlds of custom paint and modern decor together to create something new and unique. I figured out a way to reinvent myself by expanding my creativity into different genres and collaborating with other artists to create new art; That’s how Dopeness was born… my brand is “to do everything as dope as possible”!

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
The road to being where I’m at wasn’t a smooth one at all but I had the hunger to overcome any hardship that came my way. Starting off I was a troubled kid growing up, detention allowed me to learn my drawing skills. Hanging at shops was just a past time hobby to learn how to do it myself on my car but when 08 hit the only option I had was to take what I knew and apply it to make income. I was a curious person so I would ask questions; unfortunately rejection from your peers is part of the struggle but thru that, one learns to get creative and take chances. Long nights at the shop can affect the home life, friendships come and go, countless mishaps and jambs have all played a role through this journey but my hunger never faded.

We’d love to hear more about your business.
I paint and make signs for a living, every now and then I get to have fun and go custom on a sign. After hours and on the weekends, I work on my personal art, anything that can be painted will be painted. I specialize in kandy paint, metalfkake, and cool grind metal art but I am most known for my metalfkake and my crazy designs. My proudest moments are the countless messages of people from around the world telling me how my art inspires them or how some of my peers look up to me as an equal that far exceeds any award or magazine feature; to know I’ve made a difference in my industry. What sets me apart is that I encourage artists and newcomers to be different and take challenges so that they can be unique. I have a few brand ambassadors that I network with to create a positive movement of taking art and making it a lifestyle

What have been some of the most important lessons you’ve learned over the course of your career?
Lessons learned, well, as an artist; to respect the hustle and to pay homage by being innovative and different in anything I do. As a friend, brother, and a family man; to make time and to separate business, my social media life and my personal life so that I can take a break from the insanity that comes with it. There is nothing I can do differently in my past but I’ve learned enough to not follow those same mistakes in the present and in the future.
