Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Miller.
Hi Danielle, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We started 7 years ago as just a juice and smoothie truck (Juicetown jailhouse); our primary mission is to provide a genuinely healthy option that tastes delicious. We use only organic and local (when possible) produce and don’t believe in using any additives; we refuse even to carry on the truck. In 2020 (when Covid hit), we decided to turn one of my side hobbies into an addition to the business, and we started making herbal Covid care packages using the medicine of the earth to help spread awareness on how important it is for us to trust our bodies and the world to be able to heal ourselves.
We then rebranded to “Revived By Roots.” We still make our delicious juices and smoothies (my husband says they are the best in the state); however, now we also specialize in making a delicious Wildcrafted sea moss gel (ours has all 102 vitamins and minerals your body needs in one bite!) we also now boast an entire herbal medicine cabinet so we can support our community in truly every way it needs when it comes to replacing their pharmaceuticals with naturally aligned earth medicine. ❤️
I am also currently in the process of expanding even further by adding Astrology to the mix, offering consultations, and using my knowledge of astrology to help get to the root of the problem as well as offer a level of spiritual and emotional healing through the understanding of the roadmap of the stars.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting your own business takes a lot of work. 🫣😅 It is not an exaggeration when they say the first two to five years of starting a business will make or break you. It’s all about perseverance and sticking to the mission of what you believe in and how you are making a difference. Especially with a food truck, the key to the whole operation is that your car is in working condition; there were some repairs that we unexpectedly had to attend to that would cause cancellations of events and such.
Also, we had to learn which events were worth it for us and which were not. Since we have such a specialized offering, we can only do some festivals like regular food trucks. When we tried to do the marathons and “healthy” events, we were often beaten out by Jamba Juice (🙄🙄), who could offer free smoothies and afford to sponsor all these events.
We eventually learned that our true home is at the farmer’s markets and that expanding our offerings (by adding the sea moss and herbal medicine cabinet) was the key to our expansion. Focusing on quality, not quantity, has been one of my main tactics. And now our struggle is finally achieving our goal of setting up a storefront (we get asked several times a week for one!). I am all about slow and steady (it’s the Capricorn in me 😂😬), and one of my mentors has always told me that creating a good product and providing good customer service is the key to success. So, we will continue to focus on staying true to our mission and know that the perfect opportunities will jump out at us when the universe is ready.
We’ve been impressed with Revived By Roots, but for folks who might need to be more familiar, what can you share about what you do and what sets you apart?
I sort of already went through some of this. 😬 Truly, our mission is to help bring ourselves and our community back to our Roots and be more comfortable using what the earth has provided us for our healing. We want to educate people on the importance of paying attention to what we put in our bodies. Every over-the-counter medicine or pharmaceutical drug has been derived from a plant product. The only difference is that plants and herbs (mostly) don’t have any adverse side effects and are aligned with our body systems. Plants and herbs have been documented and helped humanity survive for thousands of years, while we have only been introduced to this new medical mindset in the last 200 years! Which is so mindblowing to us. People are so afraid to use herbal remedies when, in all reality, it should be the other way around! Our primary mission and goal is to help educate our community on what it truly means to be healthy, aside from all the propaganda that is pushed on us.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I have never really thought about this. 🤔 I love Phoenix because it’s warm, and I’m not too fond of the cold 😂😂 But as for the city’s vibes, I don’t like or hate anything. It is just that I am more focused on my experiences with individuals rather than looking at the city as a whole.
