Meet Daniel Koeth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Daniel Koeth.

Every artist has a unique story. Can you briefly walk us through yours?
As a kid growing up with his Dad’s old camcorder, I was making films with my action figures on a daily basis. Since I had no way of editing at the time, I would print off my titles and credits on paper, film them directly, and shoot the entire film in sequential order. It was quite the process, but it almost certainly propelled me down the creative path. At 14 I entered in my first film festival and took first place, and I’ve never looked back since. During college, I continued to make films and work part-time as a barista and made some invaluable connections. Although I didn’t know specifically what I wanted to do with my film career, I just knew I needed to continue to practice the craft. I started to learn photography and began managing the Instagram account at my current job, Regroup Coffee + Bicycles in Old Town Scottsdale. I quickly became enthralled by photography, and unknowingly started down a new path. In May 2017, I graduated from Arizona State University with a degree in Film, and two weeks later, I started my first business, Haymaker Media. Since then, Haymaker Media has quickly surpassed my wildest expectations and has allowed me to travel all around the country and create content for some incredible companies, and some even more incredible people.

Please tell us about your art.
Complementary to my business, I predominately produce photos and videos for social media and web platforms. My driving force when I’m creating these elements is undoubtedly linked to my fascination with the lives of others and the stories that are within them. Our little slogan at Haymaker Media is “Your story is our passion.” and I think that sums it up quite nicely. The challenge of depicting someone or something as accurately as possible so that the viewer truly gets an intimate portrayal of the subject is something that just really gets me going. Being able to document these various subjects and share them with the world is something I find intense joy in. When thinking about what I’d hope people might take away from my work; however, I am stumped. Although if someone views my art and gives just the slightest smile, I think I would feel sufficiently fulfilled as an artist. My art is simply my perspective of the beautifully complex world in which we all live in, and I welcome anyone who wishes to join me on my experience within it.

Given everything that is going on in the world today, do you think the role of artists has changed? How do local, national, or international events and issues affect your art?
It is my belief that through the tumultuous history of the world, the role of the artist is immutable. Artists throughout time, and still today, create beautiful works that allow an audience to transcend their reality and experience something new. Although I wouldn’t consider my art as direct social commentary, current events certainly shape my own perspective and pathos, so I’m sure if I began to analyze I might see some of those thoughts seeping through the cracks.

How or where can people see your work? How can people support your work?

I have followed Daniel and his art for years. I am so glad he has found his passion and has an opportunity to produce and share it with others. Looking forward to seeing what you create in the future.
